"Takeshi Ryuu!! Get that behind of yours down here and in this seat before I have to come up and drag you down!!!"
A young teenage boy, 17 years old, with medium long white hair walks down the stairs, pulling his sleeves down on his white jacket to cover the bandage wraps that covered from his wrists to his elbows.
"Sorry ma'am." He sighs.
"Now it sure is nice to see those light blue eyes once in awhile this early in the morning ya know?" A woman with long white hair made up into a messy bun stood at the stove in the small kitchen.
"Arhiyan Ryui. Just because your nephew has a different last name as you doesn't mean you have to make him call you "ma'am"." A short black haired guy sitting at the table sighs. "You keep your mouth shut mister 'fore I kick you out of this here house!! I let you stay overnight, the last thing you need to do is look a gift horse in the mouth!!" The woman growls at the man.
"I'm going to head off to school...." The boy sighs as he grabs a ham sandwich off of the table and a black book bag from the corner of the room.
"You gonna say bye to your aunt, Takeshi?" The woman lightly growls at the boy.
"Yes ma'am. My apologies. Have a good day. I will be heading off to school now." The boy gives the woman a smile
then leaves the house.
"Class, welcome to a new year. We surprisingly have a new student today to start off this new school year so let's show him our best." A teacher stood at the front of the huge classroom, a toothpick hanging out his mouth as his dark green/grey hair covered half of his face, including one of his light orange eyes. Takeshi walks into the classroom with a slender but fluffy/furry white wolf with light teal eyes trailing in after him.
"Everyone, this is Takeshi Ryuu. Please give him a welcoming hello." The teacher says followed by the whole class saying hello "welcomingly". More like slightly annoyed.
"Takeshi.... There are no pets allowed on school grounds...." The wolf catches the teacher's attention.
"She's not my pet, she's my wolf." Takeshi walks to an open seat and casually sits down as the wolf follows him.
"It's a pet." The teacher watches it.
"First, she's not an "it". She's a wolf. Secondly, her name's Maiman. She stays with me. If you'll look at your files there, it clearly says "Maiman may stay with Takeshi Ryuu no matter the circumstances." So I believe I can have her with me." Takeshi looks at the teacher's laptop then back at the teacher. "No. It does not. It clearly states that..." The teacher growls back then shuts up when he looks at his laptop.
"How did you do that?" He glares at Takeshi.
"What're you talking about? I just stated what my file says.
Maiman is my helper." Takeshi pulls up his sleeves, showing the teacher the bandages around his wrists. The class slightly gasps at the sight of his bandages.
"Now I would like to start off again, so we don't start off on a bad foot. Hello, I'm Takeshi Ryuu. And you are?" He looks the teacher right in the eyes.
"Hello Takeshi, my name is Mr. Himu. And yes, I believe we did start off on the wrong foot." The teacher sits back down in his chair.
"Now, let's start class, shall we?"
"Training. You all can learn the textbook stuff later. Today, we learn the fun stuff. And I learn the stuff about you, like your statistics and rankings and if you should be in a beginner class or not. Run around the school three times then report back to me for your time." Mr. Himu smiles and the class takes off running around the school. As ten minutes pass, Takeshi and another boy with puffy black and white hair finish their third lap.
"Ten minutes exactly you two." Mr. Himu looks at the two a bit suspiciously.
"Next, we have the fighting. Each of you will fight one of these men that stand in front of you. They have been told to go at you easy. Level one to be exact. If you beat them, then your ranking will be top of the class. Begin."
The class begins fighting one on one with the trainers. A few
minutes pass and the boy with fluffy black and white hair has already beaten his trainer along with Takeshi.
"Well, looks like you two don't belong in this class. I'll call the dean to come get you two so you can get a higher class." Mr. Himu walks over to the two boys with a sigh.
"Wow!! Look at us!! We're already level two!! How easy was that?!" The fluffy haired boy laughs as him and Takeshi sit at a lunch table alone.
"Yeah." Takeshi stays quiet, cautiously studying the boy in front of him.
"Why are you so quiet? Oh yeah!! You don't know my name!! I'm Kinu. You're Takeshi, right?" The boy laughs.
"Yeah. Nice to meet you, Kinu." The name sounds weird coming off of Takeshi's tongue.
"You're so quiet!! I don't like it!! Plus you get to have a pet at school!! Soo not fair." Kinu whines, glancing at Maiman. "She is not a pet. Dare to call her that again and I'll expose what you are to the whole school." Takeshi looks Kinu in the eyes and growls quietly.
"Wh... Wha.... What... What in the world.... Are you talking about?" Kinu gets suddenly nervous.
"You know what I'm talking about. I knew about it as soon as I saw you run, you copied me. Same with the fighting. You copied me. In fact, you copied me exactly. You copied my movements, my breathing, but not what I saw. You didn't copy my eyes, what I could see, how I saw straight through your
disguise." Takeshi keeps eye contact with Kinu.
"Dude, you're one great hunter.... But I'm just human." Kinu is still obviously nervous.
"Let me continue. You're young. You're learning. You make mistakes. Like not covering up your tracks. You know what I think you are?" Takeshi lets out a small laugh that sends chills down Kinu's back.
"I think you're a Clone. You know, those things that copy their prey until they can copy them exactly and they finally kill that prey and turn into the prey, easily taking the spot that prey had so the clone can fit in and hunt easily." Takeshi sits back and watches fear fill Kinu. The fear washes out and Kinu turns on defense mode, automatically standing up and pointing a gun at Takeshi's head.
"Well, great. You blew my cover. Thanks." Kinu growls as Takeshi calmly stands up.
"Should we do this more civilized?" Takeshi pulls out a silver sword from his bag.
"My pleasure. Give the audience a show for when I cut you into pieces." Kinu's gun turns to a sword and he quickly swings at Takeshi who jumps into the tree above them to avoid the hit.
"If you're going to fight with a sword, don't go on impulse and emotions. Same with any other weapon. It just jumbles up your mind and screws you up." Takeshi jumps onto the grass of the lunch courtyard behind Kinu.
"Shut up!! I could just copy you and beat you!!" Kinu turns to
face him.
"But then you wouldn't make any cuts on me because I would purposely not cut you." Takeshi lightly laughs as a crowd gathers around them.
"Oh my you're so annoying!!" Kinu screams and lunges at Takeshi.
"Another lesson to be taught. Don't lunge at people, or your prey. They can use your energy against you if they know how. Kinda... like... this." Takeshi flips Kinu onto his back using his own energy.
"I hate you!!" Kinu stands up again and rushes at Takeshi who jumps over him and lands on the table next to his back pack. "I didn't know you had feelings. Monsters I mean." Takeshi laughs, stepping onto the grass. Kinu fills with energy and runs at Takeshi again.
"You have no room to talk." King growls.
"Energy, remember?" Takeshi laughs and throws Kinu into the air.
"Now, the opponent has a sword correct?" He looks at some other random student who stood in the crowd of students who were in the Level 1 class. The student nods yes in response to Takeshi's question.
"Wrong. No. The opponent doesn't have a weapon. It's best to take that away from them when they're in the air." Takeshi points at the tree where Kinu's sword was stabbed into the wood.
"Energy." He smirks at the random student then puts his foot
on Kinu's back after he slams face first into the ground. Takeshi pulls Kinu's arms behind his back and ties them together then ties Kinu's ankles together as well. The whole crowd starts cheering for Takeshi.
"What in the world happened here?!" Mr. Himu pushes his way through the crowd with a few other teachers.
"Oh, Mr. Himu!! Nice to see you sir." Takeshi smiles at Mr. Himu.
"Answer my question Mr. Ryuu!!" Mr. Himu walks over to Takeshi and Kinu who still laid on the ground with Takeshi's foot holding him down.
"Well Mr. Himu, I'm surprised that you were blind enough not to see what's going on, but, I guess I'll explain." Takeshi sighs then turns to Maiman.
"Stand on him please, so he doesn't get up." He smiles at the wolf who walks over and stands on Kinu's back as Takeshi pulls his foot off of him.
"You see, Kinu here is a Clone. You know, the things that copy their prey. But unfortunately for this Clone, his prey knows a thing or two about his species. So I was trying to figure out how to deal with this situation when he goes and decides to say something about my Maiman. I simply confronted him, he got defensive, tried to attack me, and I taught the crowd a few things as I let Kinu tire himself out, making it easy for me to take him down using his own energy." Takeshi walks over and pulls Kinu's sword out of the
tree.
"How did you figure out he was a Clone?" One of the other teachers asks.
"Kinu here, didn't cover up his tracks. He was careless. I guess it just didn't click in his head that one of his classmates might know a thing or two." He shrugs in response.
"But how did you figure it out?" The teacher asks again. "Since he was careless, he gave slightly obvious signs. He first caught my eye when he ran exactly right next to me the whole time we ran laps. Key word? Exactly. He copied my breathing and my leg strides. He copied how my feet hit the ground and how I moved my arms. Then, during the practice fighting, he did exactly the same thing. Key word again? Exactly. He copied my exact fighting moves, my breathing, how my body moved, how I fought, exactly. So again, I know my stuff. He didn't know that part about me. He didn't copy my eyes. He didn't see how I watched him. He didn't see anything that my eyes were watching. Again, he was careless." Takeshi shrugs and drops his sword into his bag and continues to hold Kinu's sword in his hands.
"Wow. You're amazing!!" One of the other teachers laughs. "No, I just know some stuff. Not amazing. Eventually all of them will know what I know. Not exactly though." Takeshi laughs in response.
"Plus, they're already starting to learn. No thanks to Kinu." He sighs and looks at Mr. Himu who was deep in thought.
"Mr. Himu?" Another teacher taps him on the shoulder.
"Hurry up and take it, out of here. Takeshi, come with me. All of you others? Get back to lunch!! You only have a few minutes left." Mr. Himu suddenly snaps back from thinking. The crowd disperses after the teachers take Kinu away. Takeshi and Maiman follow Mr. Himu inside the school.
After walking through the school halls for a little while, they reach a fancy door with a small sign reading "Head Mistress". Mr. Himu leads Takeshi inside.
"Well Mr. Himu, what was the disturbance about?" A tall fancy dressed woman with long blonde hair stood at a big window overlooking the lunch courtyard.
"A Clone had posed as a student and one of the other students figured it out and took action when there was no other options. The Clone had become hostile and the other student took it down without hurting anyone or anything except a slight dent in the tree." Mr. Himu glances at Takeshi. "And the student you brought in here is the one who took action?" The woman turns and faces them, her light green eyes sparkling in the sunlight.
"Yes ma'am." Mr. Himu nods.
"He is the new student yes?" She looks Takeshi up and down. "Yes ma'am." Mr. Himu nods again.
"Well, then it is nice to meet you. I'm Headmistress Tarenia. Your name is...." She looks him in the eyes.
"Takeshi Ryuu ma'am." He gives her a smile.
"It sure is nice to meet you Takeshi. I guess it is a good and bad thing that we had to meet on these terms." She gives him
a faint smile back as Mr. Himu leaves the room.
"I'm glad to meet on these terms because that means that I've made the school safer, from Kinu I mean." Maiman rubs her head against the side of Takeshi's thigh.
"Who?" The headmistress looks a bit confused.
"The Clone. His name was Kinu." He scratches behind Maiman's ear while still looking at the woman.
"Oh that was probably its prey's name." She shrugs.
"No, it hadn't eaten yet. The body it was wearing was original, and so was the name. And I know you're going to ask me how I know this. I know this because I know my share of Clones and other creatures. Like I've been saying." Once he finishes talking, the headmistress gets quiet.
"You should be in a higher level. Not level two. I think you proved that outside." She walks over and sits at her desk, opening her laptop and typing some things.
"Go ahead and take a seat as I print this." Her hand motions to the chairs in front of her. He walks over and sits down as Maiman sits in the other chair.
"Ok here..... This is a map of the school and a list of all your classes and such. You think you can find your way around alone?" She hands him the packet of papers she had just printed off.
"Yes, thank you ma'am." He smiles at her then stands up. "And you can go home for the rest of the day, start fresh tomorrow ok?" She looks up and smiles at him.
"Thank you." He smiles at her and leaves the room with
Maiman following. He wanders the halls a little to get to know where his new classes are then he heads home.
"Well, you're home early. On the first day too?" The man from breakfast laid on the couch as Takeshi steps inside the house.
"Some stuff happened....." He steps to the side of the doorway to let Maiman inside.
"Like? You didn't kill anyone, did you?" The man calls.
"No, I just found a Clone, confronted them, they got hostile, and I took them down, still alive." Takeshi closes the door after Maiman trots into the house.
"No fun. That's not how you was grown up." After shifting on the couch, the man lets out a grumble.
"Still. I'm not going to kill someone in the middle of a bunch of level ones. No matter how stupid they are and how much they need to learn, especially on my first day of school. I'm not going to turn out like you. A drunk excuse for a boyfriend, even for my aunt." Takeshi grumbles then rushes up the stairs to his room, locking the door behind him and Maiman.
