It's been 10 days and no real progress. I begin to walk back to my dorm after a long night of trying to bond with Aries. I am tired, sore, and covered in ash, dirt, and bruises. It is 10 pm on a Saturday night, and I have just about had enough with Aries.
"You look just... terrific, don't you?" I look to see the director leaning against the dorm building,
I sigh, "I am not up for a riddle from the Riddler, I'm going to bed," I say as I walk closer towards the dorm building's door.
"Archangel," The director says,
"What?" I question,
"Archangel," he repeats, "Your dragon is an Archangel dragon,"
"How do you know that?" I ask,
"Well I did pick her out for you, myself, so I should know," He informs me.
"What even is an Archangel dragon?" I ask,
"I guess you should go do some research then," The director says before he once again walks off.
I walk into my dorm building and take a shower. Before I was ready to go to bed and sleep my sorrows away. But now I can't stop thinking about what the director had said.
"Your dragon is an Archangel dragon," I repeat his line, "What does that mean?" I ask myself.
I lay on my bed and try to fall asleep. I toss and turn, not being able to stop thinking about Aries, and the director telling me what type of dragon she was, or could be. I drag myself out of bed and creep out of my building. I walk to the library and I push the doors open to the library and walk in. I walk around the library until I see a book called, 'All Dragon Breeds,'
I pull it from the shelf and open it as I sit on the floor with the moonlight as my torch.
'All Dragon Breeds.'
'By Damien Loot,'
I open the book and go straight to the last few pages, the index.
I go straight to the letter A.
I finally find it and go straight to the page number.
The title of the section is 'Few of A kind'
So far not a good sign. I go down till I see Archangel.
'Archangel Dragon
Colour: Mainly white scales with a peach tinge. Details in peach, stomach and scales same colour. Eyes are gold or blue.
Common Age of Death: Unknown.
Skills: Unknown.
This type of dragon is a very rare breed. The only case of this type of dragon being seen is during a war, giving it the common name of the angel dragon, or the war dragon. Three is the most of this species seen at one time. Due to the dragon having an act for war the dragon usually dies from crossfire before it reaches old age. The dragon enjoys the action and war. The oldest breed of this dragon known is 250 years in human time, this dragon is known as Willow.
(Note: Dragon's age is subjected to change as the years go on, this number may not be accurate.)'
I read the small section that is given for this dragon. Its description does fit Aries.
Why would I be given a war dragon? How do I handle it?
I sit in the stadium. I sit about 10 meters from my dragon, it sits there looking at me.
"So you are an archangel dragon," I say, she grunts.
"I don't know if you understand me, actually I don't know much about you at all. All I know is that I am meant to be your partner, not just your rider or tamer. I don't know what else to do, but this." I say as I stand up and draw a sword.
"The book said your breed enjoyed action and war. I guess you can say you are like me, we both crave for more excitement,"
I run towards her and swing the heavy sword down at her tail, she moves her tail so it is just out of the way. I look at her, she acts like nothing has happened,
I swing the sword again and she dodges once more. I swing again and she dodges and trips me down.
I pull myself up.
I swing again and this time she stands up to dodge.
I look at her, as she is now acting playful.
"I guess I was right," I say.
I swing my sword as she jumps left and right, she continues to dodge until she jumps up, flaps her wings once, and it sends me flying back to the ground.
"I want to make a deal with you," I say to her,
"If I get onto your back, you have to start playing nice with me, and until I do you can keep playing with me like this. Okay?" I say,
Dragons don't speak so I can't get a yes from her, but I look in her eyes and I can just tell she agrees to the deal.
I continue to fight her, not afraid to swing at her cause I know she can dodge, and with this blunt sword not even I can cut myself on it.
I suck at combat, so this is practice for both of us.
She dodges, trying not to attack me physically apart from using her tail to trip me, and her wings to blow me down.
After 20 minutes of pure combat, I see an opening. I charge at her, I cut through her wing attack and charge, I am so close, her back is wide open. I can do this.
I run to her back, but before I know it she uses her tail again to trip me.
"Ow..." I say as I sit up. "I guess that is enough for both of us tonight," I say as I use my sword to stand up. I bow to her, I saw it on TV once, after a battle bow to show your respect. I begin to walk back as I know she will walk her self in. I hear the sound of her sliding on the dirt, I turn around, she has bowed to me.
She turns and walks back into the stables.
Slowly, I guess...
