"Welcome to this years duel testing! The battle of the students, the dragons and the schools!" The announcer says before the crowd cheers on top of their lungs.

"So students, today is the day!" The director barges into the locker room where everyone and I get changed into our fireproof suits. "I expect great things from you all, some more than others, but let's takedown Dartearie's pathetic school!"

"Um, sir we are not playing school vs school, this is student vs student," someone speaks up,

"Aren't you meant to say let's just have fun?" someone questions,

The director coughs twice, "Well yes, of course, let's have fun. But if we happen to beat Dartearie's school then that is a bonus! Let's try our best," the director clears up. Everyone knew he had a thing against their principal, no one knew why though.

The director leaves and we continue to get ready.

"Ash!" Someone calls my name, it looks to be Harry,

"What's up?"

"Do you know if Elena is coming back?" he asks,

"She said she would, I sure hope so. Why do you ask?"

"The guys have a bet going on, so everyone is guessing if she will come back or not. $10 is all people are paying, I'm pretty sure they already have half the school pay up." He shares,

"She better be coming back, or I'm going after her," I add,

"Why do that? Anyone can chicken out, even I was considering it." Harry asks,

"Cause she wouldn't chicken out, her stakes are high for these games."

"Alrighty then, but I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't come back. Not only is a girl versing the boys, she is the focus of everyone and never done anything like this, I would hope. The games can cause death and serious pain, I've seen people never recover." Harry walks out all prepared.

I still have had no contact with her, it must be her aunt or so-called aunt.

We soon are all called out, lining up in two circles around the stadium in alphabetical order. The inside circle is the higher grades, the outside circle is my grade. I see there is a spot left for Elena, where is she?

After the basic rules and guidelines are read out, the list of today's student vs student rounds.

Blake Timothy, Gr 11 vs Christopher Mitchell, Gr 11

Chris Kingstone, Gr 11 vs Daniel Luther, Gr 11.

-

Nial Peters, Gr 12 vs Maxis Inn, Gr 12

Russel Hist, Gr 12 vs Freddy Vick, Gr 12

-

Wilson Berk, Gr 12 vs Kile Nicks, Gr 11

Layton Smith, Gr 11 vs Gary Cloud, Gr 11

Each round lasted 20 minutes. If you go over 20 minutes you receive the amount of time over. If you go under, you get the time you had left as a negative. E.g. finished 5 minutes before would be -5.00, if I finished 5 over it would be +5.00. Everyone is aiming for the negatives, the lower your time the more chance you have of being risen up, and if you take too long, despite high points you would be dropped. This game wasn't just about getting the most hit points, it was getting good hit points in a set amount of time. Too little hit point but a good time will not get you a win.

The real goal is at least 50 hit points and no elapsed time.

"After all rounds are completed, the extra games will take place. These games are new to this setup, so let me explain." The announcer says, "At the end of the day's rounds all those who do not wish to compete or those who are unable or too young, can help rank the schools. Each participant is worth 1 point, each game win will give the school 2 points, second place is worth 1, and third is worth 0. At the end of each round, the highest school average, according to the student vs student battles, will give that school an additional 10 points, the second school gets 5 points, and once again third place receives 0. The after games game will be released at the start of each day, and only then. Today the games begin. To start with we have..." the announcer explains.
