It's been ten years. Ten long years since Michael, Lucifer, and Adam were freed from the cage and defeated Amara. They moved to Vancouver, bought a mansion, and just stayed together. Lucifer kept his promise; he quickly traded Castiel out in favor of a young Henry Winchester. Michael chose a young John Winchester, who he also appeared as in the cage. Adam stayed himself, though he, unlike the angels, grew up. He still lives with them, of course. It's a close knit family, one they won't give up easy. But it doesn't matter. The archangels are happy together, and Adam is happy third wheeling with them.
But then one day, there's a knock on the door. No one ever comes to their mansion; it's always intimidated everyone else. The archangels were in the middle of a slow make out session, but because Adam is showering, one of them has to get it. Lucifer volunteer as tribute and heads to the door, opening it without hesitation.
Lucifer freezes, rigid at the sight of the man in the doorway. He gives the archangel a kind but shy smile. It's Chuck.
"Hi, Lucifer," Chuck greets his angel. He looks around approvingly. "Nice place. Can I come in?"
"No," Lucifer says quickly. "No, we aren't... We don't do the supernatural thing anymore. You need to leave."
"But --"
"Now." Lucifer shuts the door in his face, then takes a deep breath. He never thought he would have to see his father again, and he was not ready for that.
"Who was it?" Michael asks, walking over to join his fiancé. They've been engaged for a few months, Michael being the one to pop the question. Lucifer had accepted in a heartbeat.
"No one," Lucifer says quickly.
Michael gives him a puzzled look. He pushes past Lucifer to look out the window, only to see an empty lot in front of their house. He turns back to Lucifer.
"That's weird," he observes.
"What's weird?" Adam asks as he always at the top of the stairs, a towel around his head.
"Nothing," Michael replies dismissively.
He says it in such a way that Adam can't question it. "Alright. You guys wanna play Would you Rather?"
And that's how their life goes. Not much has change for them after leaving the cage. Adam ages, but that's all. It feels like no time, though, compared to the thousands of years in Hell, but it's all going fine for them now. It's all perfect.
