Both the archangels kneel at the bed in the mansion, tears steaming down their faces. Adam lies there, at over one hundred years old, sick and on the brink of death. They managed to heal him before, but not now. He's going to die, and there's nothing they can do to stop it.
"I'm sorry," Lucifer whispers. "I wish I could help you."
"Me too," Michael agrees. He has an idea. "Do you think Dad could?"
Ordinarily, Lucifer would say no without a second thought. This time, he hesitates. He hates God, but this... This is much worse than a personal feud. Adam's life is on the line. He needs whatever help he can get.
Lucifer sighs. "There's only one way to find out."
So he prays for what feels like the first time in forever.
Dad? It's -- it's me. Lucifer. Um... Okay, I'm just gonna say it. I need help. So, you know, if you're listening... Please, Dad. Help us.
At first, he has no faith that it works. But, about a minute later, none another than Chuck himself appears in the room. He doesn't have to ask what's wrong. He can see that Adam is sick. It's obvious. He walks up to the boy; more an old man than a boy, and places a hand on his forehead. Almost immediately, he is replaced by a young Adam, still sleeping. Chuck turns to the angels.
"He won't age or get sick. He's as mortal as you now."
"Thank you!" Michael says, his gratitude clear.
Lucifer gives his father a small smile. "Thanks."
And just that one word makes this all worth it for Chuck. Just hearing Lucifer feel anything but hate towards him is amazing, even if it won't last.
"Dad?" Lucifer adds.
"Yes?"
Lucifer smiles at him, a smile born of gratitude and regret. "I'm sorry. For everything."
Chuck returns the smile. "Me too."
And just like that, they're all a happy family again, now and forever.A/N I'm sorry this ending is trash my phone sucks but I need data and my ipod obvious doesn't have that so I typed it on this piece of shit. I wanted to wrap it up quick.
