Poem 14: My Forestalling

Can I blame you?

She's smart and pretty, too.

I was once her in another life,

I was really rude and not very nice.

I was the queen,

Demolishing everyone seen.

I had shorter hair and a straight white smile,

I'd get tired of people after a while.

I would throw lots in the ground,

And bring anyone down.

Being this rude took a toll,

And my heart was nothing but cold.

My future? I didn't care,

I gave my life away all on a dare.

I met a friend,

Who has forever changed me since then.

She cared about how I'd remain,

And she kept me away from the drugs rotting my brain.

She made my heart thaw,

And kept my feelings sweet and raw.

She saved me, and kept me sane,

She kept me from unnecessary pain.

I thank her every day,

Without her I would've thrown my life away.
