MISSION AND THE RESULT

Yeah so, I had this idea talking to my friend one day who was spouting nonsense, and I wandered into Fanfiction-Making Land, and wondered what would happen if Naruto "died" and came back with siblings. . . in a different way.

"Sasuke! Just come back already!" Naruto yelled.

"No! I have to get power! I will go to Orochimaru and defeat my brother! No one will stop me!" Sasuke shouted, his eyes wild, the Curse Mark creeping all over him. "Why do you even care? You don't know what it's like to lose family! You, who has been alone from the very beginning!"

"I care because you're my friend Sasuke! And this is the first bond I've had with anyone!"

Sasuke stopped, his Sharingan spinning slowly. He looked down momentarily, and it seemed he was fighting himself. Well, he actually was. When Orochimaru had bitten the Curse Seal on his neck, he had also placed a jutsu on him to make the Uchiha act unwillingly and eventually force him to go to him if Sasuke decided not to.

"You. . . don't understand. . . anything. . ." Sasuke muttered. "Someone like you can't understand me!" He was slowly gaining power over the jutsu, but it wasn't enough. He needed one final push.

"I can try to understand! You're a brother to me, Sasuke!" Naruto yelled, desperately trying to keep Sasuke occupied.

"NO! YOU CAN'T! CHIDORI!" And Sasuke ran at Naruto and plunged his most powerful attack in the blonde's chest as he was about to form a Rasengan to counterattack.

"S-Sasuke. . . you aren't yourself, are you?" Naruto's piercing blue eyes stared unblinkingly at Sasuke's Sharingan. They flashed onyx black before going back to red. Sasuke was struggling with himself. 

Naruto tried one last time. "Snap out of it Sasuke-nii. Now." 

Sasuke's eyes widened and they shifted to onyx black and stayed like that.

"N-Naruto!" Sasuke quickly pulled out his arm which was still stuck inside of Naruto's chest. The Uchiha gently laid down his friend. Suddenly he started swaying dizzily, and blacked out.

(Yeah, probably makes no sense, but it's crucial in my story so deal with it, okay? Thank you!)

When Sasuke opened his eyes, he saw a barely breathing Naruto across from him. He shot up and scrambled over.

"Naruto? Naruto! Are you okay? Of course you're not okay, you have a freaking hole in your chest. . . why isn't the Kyuubi healing you?! And where's Kakashi when you need him?!" Sasuke was as close to getting hysterical as an Uchiha could get. "Hang on Naruto, I'll take you back." Sasuke hefted his friend on his back and started running. 

Midway he bumped into Kakashi, who looked at him in surprise.

"Look, long story short, Naruto snapped me out of Orochimaru's jutsu after I hit him with a Chidori and now he's dying," Sasuke said hurriedly. "I'm taking him back for medical treatment." 

Kakashi said nothing but ran alongside him all the way to Konoha, where Naruto was rushed to hospital. 

Only a few minutes later the doctors emerged saying that Naruto Uzumaki had not made it. The Copycat Jōnin then quickly took a frozen Sasuke to the Hokage's office, where he was to report. This would not be fun. The Hokage was very fond of Naruto, and the two dreaded breaking the news.

> HOKAGE'S OFFICE <

"Sasuke Uchiha Retrieval Mission complete," Kakashi reported dutifully. "Sasuke returned willingly after engaging in battle with Naruto. We suffered only one casualty." "Good job Kakashi," Tsunade nodded. "I will look into that one casualty later. Now where is Naruto?"

Kakashi looked away so Sasuke spoke up. "Before Naruto talked to me and released me of Orochimaru's jutsu, I. . . managed to drive a Chidori through his chest."

Kakashi decided to continue, guilt eating away at him as he looked at his Hokage's face, horrified realization dawning upon its features. 

 "Naruto Uzumaki was the one casualty we suffered."

Konoha was never the same without the blob of hyperactive sunshine and the color orange.
