He is lucky enough to get a window seat; lucky enough to get the view that, no matter how many times you flew, would never cease to be stunning. John smiles. The last time he flew on a plane was with Sherlock, and they were going to France for a case. Oh, how they enjoyed that holiday. When Sherlock got croissant all down his coat, when they got chased by an angry French man shouting insults at them, and of course the late nights snuggled together in front of the useless hotel television.

John looks over to the seat next to him: it's empty. Sighing, he puts on his headphones and listens to music. Maybe it will distract him, or at least help him sleep. He's been having trouble sleeping lately, because of what goes on inside his head. He'll be fine, looking forward to a good night's sleep after a long day working, and then, bam. The images of him being shot are in his head all over again. John's never thought of himself as overly sentimental, but he was way too much of a soft spot. They'd become mates fairly quickly, solving cases and saving the world. It was too much of a good thing, however, and when Moriarty decides that someone shouldn't live anymore, they won't.

A tear escapes as memories come flooding back. He squeezes them shut, trying to stay strong.

"John? John?" he hears someone say. he turns to look, pulling his headphones off his ears as he does. The images are blurry at first, but he wipes his eyes to see who it is.

"Sherlock?" he asks.

"I was just changing Rosie, but the queue was massive." Sherlock rocks the now sleeping infant in his arms as he sits back down in his place next to John.

"Sherlock, I can't stop thinking about him." John says, through tears.

"Oh, John." Sherlock says as he loops one arm around John's shoulders. "I know it's hard. You and Lestrade were good friends, but that's why we're going away for a bit. To help you get over this. You know he wouldn't want you crying."

"I... I know. Thank you, Sherlock." John mumbles as he leans on Sherlock's shoulder.

"It's okay, John. Just close your eyes and try to sleep. We'll be there before you know it."

Author's Note: I know I said there would be a second part to the mormor chapter, and there will. I just like keeping you in suspense and also I'm really lazy.
