"Don't look at me like that, Lenny."

"I'm not, Mare."

Mare hated the worried look on the doorman's face, like he knew something terrible had happened. Lenny had been a good friend to her, when she first got to London, when she knew no one, she would seat in the lobby to talk to the guy for hours, even with the big age difference, they had become close.

"Has Missy been coming to take my car out?"

"Every other day for about an hour." He responded. "And your mate Jonny left you a bunch of notes for when you got back, let me get them for you."

"No need," she shook her head. "I see my friends are not very communicative." She raised an eyebrow to Lenny.

"Mare," he sighed, "as the doorman of this building, I can't go around telling people about the resident's private life."

"Well, you're my friend, Lenny! And I am also a resident, you should've told me!"

"Mr. Wrightwood asked me not to, he said he would tell you himself."

It wasn't fair to put it all on Lenny, the old man was loyal, but of course there were things he could not tell, he knew better than going around spreading gossip. She just patted his shoulder and left the building, a young man she had never seen around had brought the car. "Thanks." She mumbled to him and got in.

For two years she refused to get her own car, she liked walking a lot, sometimes she'd take the subway or the bus, but overall, she wouldn't mind having to walk in her three inch heels, even if it was cold. She only bought the car because Kyle had insisted, saying she would get sick from the cold wind. Now she loved her car, she probably had missed it more than she had missed Kyle, or that she tried to make herself believe, just to feel better.

An incoming call got her away from her thoughts, she didn't want to answer, but she knew he'd call a thousand times if necessary.

"What do you want, Jonny?"

"Whoa, what a way of saying hello, Mare."

Jonny was a friend of Kyle since childhood, how could she expect his loyalty to fall for her? And still in the two years of friendship they had shared, it seemed like he had been closer to her than anyone in the world.

"I know Kyle is your friend, Jonny, but you could've told me he was dating someone."

Only static was heard for a few seconds, he then sighed and tried a justification. "It was not my secret to tell, Mare."

"So it's a secret?"

"Same as with you," it stung when she heard Kyle's new relationship compared to hers. "Only the inner circle and his sister know about it."

She snorted. "And he told me yesterday he wouldn't hide another relationship."

"You know how it is with him, with people like us."

"Especially you, boomerang boy."

Jonny was well known. He had started in the movies, just like Kyle, he was a pretty decent actor, but his passion was the rock n' roll life. Still, after a few years away from Hollywood, his love life was of much interest to paparazzi. And well, he had had three girlfriends in his whole life, the serious ones at least, and was stuck between two of them, always breaking up with one to go back to the other.

"No more boomerang, love. I'm with Mia, I'm not letting go this time."

"I don't understand how they forgive you. And how can you be with Mia? You'll never love her as much as you love Nicky."
