This whole chapter is going to be from Rosalie’s point of view, just so you’re not confused!

“Mum, we’re happy that we’re having a baby, can’t you see that?” Theo’s hushed voice traveled through the air from the hall, making everyone silent.

She was at it again. Trying to control everyone’s life to suit her likings.

“Oh, please. You’re not thinking straight. A baby at your age?” She scoffed. “Do you realize how they’ll portray you in the media?”

“Who fucking cares about the media! Mariana and I have always wanted a baby and now we’re having one!” We all listened to my brother’s voice, anger filling it.

They had excused themselves from the table over five minutes ago, but it felt like ages since I saw them. It started with my mum, like always. She was in complete shock that the couple was bringing a new addition to the family and did not like the idea one bit. Since my mum was my mum, she couldn’t keep her thoughts to herself and spoke her mind about the unborn baby. We all tried to ignore her, focusing on Theo and Mariana, but she butted herself back in. That’s when my brother lost it and dragged her out of the room.

“This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have suggested this party.. I knew your mum would be upset.” Mariana’s delicate voice flowed into my ear, soft sobs leaving her.

In a swift motion, I turned my body towards her and quickly engulfed her in a hug. Softly rubbing her back, I tried my best to calm her down.

“Mariana, shush. It’s not your fault, don’t say that.” I spoke.

“Yeah, Mari, you know how our mum is.” Griffin added, sending her a smile.

“Theodore Michael Windsor! Don’t you dare to this to your own mother!” My mum’s yell cut us off.

“You’re doing this to yourself!” Theo’s voice quickly came after.

“How dare you! I raised you better!”

“You were never a mother to me.. All you cared about was yourself.” He spat. “You don’t even care about most of those people out there, including your own children. They’re nothing to you. You don’t care about their happiness, only your’s.”

“Where did this come from? It’s Mariana isn’t it? She’s trying to turn you against me!”

“Don’t you dare bring Mariana into this, because, unlike you, she actually cares a lot about me. She would never try to force me into something I don’t want to do, like you did.”

“You little son of a bitch.” My mother hissed.

“If I’m the son, then you must be the bitch.”

Before I could hear my mom say anything, I untangled my arms from the sobbing girl beside me and excused myself. I couldn’t just sit here and not help my brother.

“Rose, don’t!” My father called after me, but it was too late, I was out in the hallway already.

“You’re no son of mine from now on.” I watched my mom push Theo out of the way, not noticing I was in the same room.

“You think that’ll affect me? I’ve spent my entire life without you!” My brother retorted, stepping in front of her again.

As I watched my mom lift her hand, I ran forward and stopped her before she could make contact with my brother’s face.

“Mum, please don’t.” I whispered to her, shaking my head slowly.

“Rosalie, go back to the dining room, please.” Theo spoke, holding me by the shoulders.

“No, I’m not letting you two fight anymore. It’s upsetting everyone inside.” I turned to face my brother, seeing the distress all over his face.

“Rosalie, go back inside. Now.” He repeated.

“No, I’m not going anywhere.” I told him, holding my ground in between the two.

“This is not your fight, it’s mine.” He whispered to me, softly pushing me away.

“Rosalie Faye Windsor, do as your brother says and go back into the dining room this instant.” My mom butted in, placing her hands on her hips.

“I told him no and I’m going to tell you no too.” I stated, “I’m not moving until you two sort out your differences.”

“How can we sort our differences out if she doesn’t agree with half the things I say?” Theo spat, narrowing his eyes at our mum.

“I don’t agree with them because they won’t better you or your future!” She retorted. “The things I do are all for your future!”

“Oh, really? Name one decision you made that bettered my future?” He angrily questioned her in which she didn’t respond. “Hah, you see! You’ve done nothing for me or my future! You call yourself a mother!”

Everything froze in those few seconds. My mum rose her hand, slowly making its way towards my brother’s face. I couldn’t let her hurt my brother, it was just unacceptable. Theo was right for the most part, he could have used less offensive words, but he was right. My mother wasn’t a mother to half of her children, including me. She favored some much more than others and she never hid the fact that she liked them better. She made it clear to the rest of her children that they would never receive the love from her that they would always wish for. Before her hand made contact with my brother’s cheek, I instantly jumped in front of him to make sure he wouldn’t get hurt because I knew there was still a chance my mum could show him the love she hadn’t shown me. The sting moved all throughout the right side of my face, my hand flying up to cover the now red spot.

“Rosalie! Are you alright?” Theo’s voice entered my ears.

“Rosalie, I didn’t mean to hurt you!” My mum’s voice spoke.

Taking a deep breath, I looked my mother in the eyes and forced the tears away. “Too bad, you already have.” With that, I turned sharply on my heel and walked away from them.

“Look what you’ve done now!”

I could hear his voice slowly fade away as I continued to walk. As soon as I was far away enough from everyone, I entered an empty room, closing the door as I slid down it, the tears making their way down my cheeks.

I’ve always wanted to accept the fact that she would never show compassion for me, but I guess I can’t. She will never shower me with love like she does with Mason or Scarlette. She will never smile at me like she does with them. She will only look at me as a disappointment because of all the shit I do to make her mad at me.

Little did she know, all those stunts I’ve pulled were the only way I could make her pay attention to me because I still craved for her love.
