Hermione walked across the silent hallways of Hogwarts for the first time in two years.

A feeling of nostalgia overwhelmed her, a gap in her heart.

Of course, those last two years, she had been training to be a professor in Hogwarts while she worked on S.P.E.W. for the equal rights of the house elves.

Those last two years... Two years without You-know - Voldemort. Two years without Voldemort. Those last two years were stressing for Hermione.

The loud sound of her shoes' friction against the marble floor was echoing through the empty halls.

Why is it so empty? She asked herself and then felt stupid of the question; It was 31th of August. Theoretically, Hogwarts was closed. It was the first time in her whole life to see Hogwarts before the first day, she realized. Suddenly, she felt a little jealous of the Hogwarts students. She would love to come back an learn more and more and more.

And then without a warning, flashing images of forgotten memories appeared in her mind. The ball, the library, the battles, Harry, Ron, Ginny... She smiled to herself, a brief tear briefly blurred her eyes and she blinked it quickly away.

She had a headmaster to see.

______

''Miss Granger, my dear! Good to see you, look at you, all grown up! How are you, child?'' said Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore from his portrait when Hermione entered the Headmaster's office.

Hermione smiled, ''Professor Dumbledore, I'm fine thank you,'' she answered as she was taking a closer look at him; he was the same old headmaster, but now he wore a pointy purplish hat with a matching purplish cloak.

Dumbledore nodded, ''You may sit now, miss Granger, Minerva is coming about..'' he raised his finger, ''now.''

Indeed, Professor McGonagall entered her office at the same time Dumbledore was pointing at the door.

''Hermione Granger, I am glad you came.'' She said as she sat at her desk and then gathered some papers that were on it. She suddenly stopped and looked at her. ''I'll say this right away. I cannot wait anymore.'' McGonagall took a deep breath and smiled. ''Hermione Granger, do you accept the offer of becoming a professor of Hogwarts?''

______

Hermione's jaw fell. ''Become a professor? But, ma'am, I'm only in my second year of training. I cannot-''

''Yes, you can. Honestly, there is no other person I can trust in this position. After all, you have great knowledge of all the lessons, you could easily teach everything here. I trust you, Hermione, this is why I'm offering you my position,'' said McGonagall who now stood with her arms crossed and her small square glasses glimmering under the mere sunlight.

Hermione pressed her lips. She wanted so much to teach at Hogwarts but she wasn't sure if she actually could. ''Your position? But-?''

McGonagall nodded, wearing a sad smile. ''Yes, my position. I'm getting old, Hermione, I cannot teach while I'm running both a part of the Ministry, Hogwarts and teaching.'' The professor took a deep breath and paused. All of the sudden, Hermione could see the deep lines of age in her face, lines she could not see earlier. ''Do you accept my offer?''

Hermione briefly nodded as her stare fell to her ;aced fingers, understanding the tough life of being a headmaster of Hogwarts. She took a deep breath and felt like everything somehow was staring at her. She looked over Dumbledore who sat in silence. He nodded at her, encouraging her. At last, she turned to Professor McGonagall and a small smile crossed her face. ''Very well, I'll do it, I will try my best.''

Professor McGonagall smiled and stood up. ''Magnificent, Professor Granger.'' She pause and then said, "You will be in charge of Gryffindor, too. You take my responsibilities now, dear."
