"I'D LIKE TO SEE MY daughter, Ava," Jansen says from his office at W.I.C.K.E.D. headquarters. "You removed her from the Maze Project, correct?"

"Yes, Jansen," Ava speaks roughly through the phone, glancing at the guards at her door. "I'm currently sending in our newest recruits for both Maze one and two; Aris and Teresa. Could you possibly wait for another few days?"

Jansen sighs over the phone, tightening his jaw in agitation. "Ava, we've talked about this. It's only a month until we start the Trials. Can't you just let me see her? I know of the deal she made with you, and I have no intentions of interfering. I just want to see my daughter."

"You see, Jansen," Ava chuckles lowly, "I've been waiting for the Trials. I will keep Grace until she carries through with her promises to me. We agreed that if I sent her into the Maze to see Thomas, she'd work under my rule. I'm not about to forget about that."

"That's not what I'm asking," Jansen says, his anger flaring. "I just want to see her."

"And I'm not going to allow her to be distracted," Ava shakes her head. "That involves her memories being wiped again."

"Ava, you can't do that," Jansen slams his fist onto the desk in front of him. "I won't let you! That's my daughter!"

"Ah, ah, ah, Jansen," Ava says impatiently. "We won't be having an outrage from you. This was solely Grace's decision from the moment she requested it. I carried out my end of the deal, and I won't hesitate to make sure that she executes hers. I hope you understand."

And with that, Ava ends the call with her colleague, and looks up to the guards that stand in the doorway. Teresa stands between them with wide eyes, her heart beating furiously in her chest.

Teresa didn't know about this part of the plan.

"Prepare for launch," Ava says sternly, looking over Teresa. "And ready Grace for the swipe. I don't want that girl to remember a single thing that happened it that Maze."
