CHAPTER NINETEEN
( REMEMBER )

TODAY HAD GONE BY QUICKER than the snap of my finger. My nerves were torn to shreds by sundown, and I wasn't sure how I could possibly face my friends. Teresa had tried to convince me to spend as much time with them as I could, because I would be leaving. But I couldn't drag myself out of my spot to talk to them.

Newt and Minho had been gone in the Maze all day, and Thomas was with Alby. Of course I couldn't see Nik, Garret, and Gally, because all of them were working. So I was left alone the whole day, carefully going over everything Teresa had said to me.

Chuck was nowhere to be seen as Newt and Minho rushed from the Maze, and straight into the Map Room. I had debated on whether or not I should follow behind them, and tell the two of my dreams.

But I declined my mind's offer.

I sat still on my log, glancing at the tree above me. It shades the area where my log is perched on the ground, specifically for me, and my thinking time. I made sure that no one- not even the builders- could touch this log. It was just last week that I had convinced him to let me keep it.

My reasoning was stupid, but he had agreed anyway. This log was definitely worth the long argument I had with him.

I smile as the Maze doors slam closed, making myself comfortable as I wait for the sun to set. I've been waiting for this all day- something to pry my mind from what Teresa had said to me yesterday. Although it was hard to do, I managed as the sky grew slightly darker.

But as soon as Thomas is away from Alby, and talking to a re-appearing Chuck, I jump from my spot. I bite my lip, following Alby inside of the Homestead. My mind is instantly clear as he turns to face me, a slightly annoyed expression laced onto his features.

"What do you want?" He grumbles, leaning on the frame of his door. "Have something to complain about? In that case, I prefer you suffer through it."

"No, I have to tell you about something, actually," I say quietly, glancing behind me to make sure no one is spying. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"

"We're talking right now," He snorts.

I fight the urge to roll my eyes, and flip him off at the snide comment.

"Privately," I say lowly. "I don't want anyone else to know."

He stares at me with an unreadable expression, before nodding his head in the direction of his open direction. I slide past him, and enter his room with my eyes glazing over everything.
