"Space Marines, today you will confirm my faith in you and prove yourselves in the eyes of the Emperor!" Nebulous was fully recovered, preparing for the war that awaited. Aboard the command Land Raider and alongside dozens of Rhino transports, they rumbled along and off to battle, he spoke clearly into the communicator, stirring up each battalion of his warriors, his super-soldiers, his angels of death "There is no doubt we face the most massive army ever seen. Every force on this planet is an enemy of the Imperium! Should a day come when the Imperial Guard and the Sisters of Battle stand between us and the victory we seek, then we shall smite them as well! We will never submit, never retreat, show no remorse, no mercy, and offer only redemption in death! And if it is written by the Emperor that we must die on this Terra-forsaken spit of Warp-ridden rock, then so be it! But, with the Emperor as my witness, I proclaim we will take every last one of these scum with us!"
He heard the roar of approval over the link as he continued.
"If we are to die here, then our enemies will die beside us!" he bellowed "But we will not die! We will never die! It is not fate or coincidence that today marks the seventieth anniversary of the Fall of Chaos, it is the Emperor's divine will. His gift to us to once more claim honour on this glorious day, and his warning to all those who oppose his will that today they suffer and die as did the Chaos Space Marines all those years ago! So let us shake these Rhino transports and rumble the earth beneath their treads! Orks, Dark Eldar, Tyranids, Tau, Eldar, and Necrons, your doom approaches!" another roar filled the communicators as the transports rolled over the grey hills and charged toward the ancient and enchanted fortress of Fort Montakaan.
But the war was already there.
Orks in their thousands lined the plains of dirt around the city. Dark Eldar Raiders hovered just over them, firing down on the hordes of green-skins, and dodging the Necron Heavy Destroyers that skimmed past them. Never before had Nebulous seen so many forces clashing over one location, but the fight was about to get much bigger he thought to himself. The transports skidded to a halt at the very edge of the Ork lines, and they turned to see the platforms lower on the Land Raiders and the commanders charge out in a group of Terminators.
"Space Marines, attack!" bellowed the Chaplain, as the dozens of Rhinos unloaded their payload of blue armoured warriors in a blaze of bolter fire. The Orks let out an ear-shattering 'Waaagh!' and charged headlong into them. But those who weren't cut down by the stream of fire, found themselves at the merciless hands of the Terminators' hammers. Behind them, Predators rolled into formation with Whirlwinds and opened fire into the fray, the shells causing massive damage to the huddled Ork forces. But they had a surprise of their own in store. An entire legion of Orks armoured in thick metal and armed with fierce claws and long range weapons charged forward, shaking off the barrage of bolter fire as they went.
"We'll clobber ya good!" they screamed as the armoured Orks clashed with the Assault Terminators at the front of the Marine force. Claws tried to rip off chunks of Terminator armour, while power fists punched at the mid-sections of the Mega Armour, and sparks flew high as sluggas and bolters alike unleashed a sea of fire on their enemies.
"For the Emperor!" cried one of the Terminators as he hoisted the Mega-Armoured Ork from the ground and drove its skull into his knee with a might crunch "Show no mercy!" A great backhand from his power fist flipped an Ork over backward as it collided with his jaw, and a sideward slash from a sword cut through the thick green flesh as though it were made of paper. As the Space Marine artillery began to move forward, the forces of the Imperial Guard arrived to the East of the secondary wall. Chimeras unloaded Guardsmen by the hundred as rows of Basilisks took up their positions. Commissar Yarrick unloaded from his personal Chimera, accompanied by a powerful Psyker with a tall staff, and his only superior, Lord Commissar Stubbs, father of the Kauravan General himself.
