“Oh, hi there! You know Damian?” One of the girls finally tore her attention away from Damian long enough to notice Kamiko.

“Um, yeah... You could say that,” Kamiko replied.

“This is the girl I’ve been telling you guys so much about,” Damian added.

Kamiko shifted uncomfortably on her feet. She had been trying not to focus on the fact that Damian was still holding on to her hand. She didn’t want to get all embarrassed in front of the people she’s trying to convince.

“This is your girlfriend!?” one of the girls asked. Kamiko couldn’t tell if she was just surprised or disapproving. Probably both...

Damian nodded and smiled big. He looked confident, like it was all natural to him. He must’ve been going over it in his mind or something... He doesn’t look embarrassed or nervous at all, Kamiko observed.

Damian let go of Kamiko’s hand and slung his arm around her shoulder. He pulled her close to him and smiled, fighting back all of his nerves so that he would appear confident to the girls. I just have to act confident, like I’ve done this a hundred times before, Damian told himself.

“This is Kamiko,” he said with another smile.

“Kamiko? What a unique name! I’m Ivy,” one of the girls said with a bright smile at Kamiko. This girl had light blonde hair that went down to her mid-chest and pale blue eyes. Her skin was fair. She was shorter than Kamiko, but the second tallest of the three girls there.

“I’m Justine,” another one of the girls introduced. She was the shortest of the three. Her hair was the shortest only going down to her shoulders and it was auburn. She had brown eyes and tanner skin than the first girl.

The last girl was the most reluctant to talk. But, finally, she did introduce herself. “Jenifer,” she huffed.

Jenifer was the tallest of the three, but she was still a good two inches shorter than Kamiko. She had black hair that stopped just above her waist. Her eyes were a deep blue and she had fair skin like the first girl, but hers was a little tanner.

“Nice to meet you all,” Kamiko said, forcing a big smile. “Damian’s said a lot about you.”

“Aww, how sweet of him,” Justine beamed.

“We should go get something to drink and sit down to talk. It’s so hot out here. It might be nice, yeah?” Ivy suggested.

“Sounds nice,” Damian replied.

“Cool. Sweet Bubbles is like a five minute walk away from here,” Ivy said. “Wanna go there, Kamiko?”

“I, uh... I’ve never actually been before...” Kamiko admitted. Oh, God, is that bad!? Did I just let them know I’m from the bottom class somehow!? Kamiko wondered.

“Then we just have to go! They have the best drinks ever!” Ivy exclaimed.

“You always talk about that place and yet you’ve never suggested taking me until now...” Justine said. “It’s just because Damian’s here, right?”

“No, no. I just thought since we’re at the beach and it’s hot...” Ivy went on denying it, but her face was growing redder and redder by the second.

Ivy led the way over to Sweet Bubbles.

It was a bright little shop. The walls were all painted different colors and any colors that weren’t on the walls were on the tables and chairs. Kamiko had been looking at the menu which was made up of a bunch of different drinks she’d never even heard of. Chai tea, Thai iced tea, milk tea... I never even knew that there were so many different teas! she thought.
