Your POV

You are a nurse who just got moved to another floor and is taking care of a patient by the name of Mark Fischbach. You are going by your day normally until you walk by Mark's room to hear him talking to someone.

"Mr. Fischbach, do you nee-" I freeze in the doorway at the sight of him sitting up in his bed talking to a camera. "Sir, you should really stay laying down. You're still very weak." I start to walk over to help him. "I'm sorry, but can I please just say one last quick thing before I lay back down?" I think about it for a second. "Sure, but please hurry up. This may delay your healing process." I wait in the doorway for him to say what he needs to. "Well, I just got told that I need to wrap this up. I'll give you guys another update soon. And as always, I will see you in the next video. Buh-bye!" He tries to wave but looks pained as he does so. His friend turns off the camera and I walk up to his bed.

I look around for the remote to but his bed back down. He hands it to me and smiles. "I'm sorry if I disturbed any patients when I was talking." I shake my head. "No, you're okay. I just didn't know if you needed help. What were you doing, anyway?" I ask. "I make videos on YouTube. I just wanted to update my...err...followers that I will be gone for a while." He explains as I put his bed back down into a laying position. I nod and tuck his blanket up to his chest.

"Room 16 wants you again." A nurse named Lily, who works on a computer at the front desk, tells me. "Again? Jesus, he's been calling me all day." Lily raises an eyebrow. "It's not like that, I don't think..." she shakes her head. "Is that the one with the really pretty brown eyes?" She asks. I nod. "Yup. That's the one." She smirks. "He's pretty hot. Now go get him another glass of water." She says as I stand up.

"What do you need, Mr. Fischbach?" I ask, smiling the same way I do for every patient. "Can I have more painkillers? I think it's wearing off." I refill his supply and start to walk out. "Uhh, you can call me Mark." I turn around. "Okay, Mark." I smile. He smiles back and turns on his side, clenching his stomach.

The Next Day
"What happened, anyway?" I ask Lily, since only a select people can see the information. She types something on the keyboard, clicks a few things on the mouse, then freezes. Just as she goes to say something, the same sound we have heard every half an hour rings on her computer. I stand up and walk to room 16.

I walk in and see him trying to stand up. I run over "no no no, you need to stay laying down." He looks up at me. "I really need to move around. I can't lay around in my own shit for days on end. Please." He says sorrowfully. I look around. "Fine. But don't tell anyone about this." I pull over a wheelchair and help him into it. He smiles at me through his clearly pained face and I start pushing him.

I walk him around the hospital and talk about his job. It's very interesting, and seems like fun. We get back to his room and I help him back into his bed. "Thank you. It's nice to be with someone new." He says in a soft, low voice. I nod and pull his sheets up over him. "Need anything before I leave?" I ask. "No thank you." He smiles. I walk out of the room and continue with my day.

There is nothing else I can do. I have organized my desk twice over and walked around the hospital looking for someone to take care of. The computer hasn't rang in the last two and a half hours and I'm getting worried. After at least ten minutes of thinking over whether or not I should go to his room, I stand up and find room 16.

I open the door quietly, basically tip-toeing to his bed. I peek at him and smile involuntarily. He is fast asleep on his side. I sit next to him on the bed slowly and look at his chiseled jawline and dark brown hair. The longer I look at him, the more happy he seems. It's almost as if he is smiling in his sleep. I push a soft strand of hair out of his face and tuck the blanket up to his shoulder. His hair flows between my fingers one more time before I turn off the lights and close the door.

The rest of the day goes by slowly without Mark calling me every twenty minutes. I don't want to leave him here with the other nurses overnight though, so I ask to stay late. "Can I please just have five more hours? That's ten o'clock, I can cover other people's shifts and clean out bed pans." I ask. Five hours will give him plenty of time to sleep. He is gonna get hungry soon. "Okay. Just don't overwork yourself." The boss says and excuses me.

Lily leaves and I take her spot at the computer. I just sit there for a second, feeling very special. After about two hours of busying myself with helping other patients and looking on Lily's Twitter, a notification that Room 16 is calling pops up on the screen. I jump up and run to his room with a cup of water and chicken noodle soup.

The lights flicker on as I walk in and I can't help but chuckle at his messy hair and sleepy eyes. He looks up and fixes it, laughing as well. "How did you know?" He says, his voice hoarse and quiet. I hand him the warm soup and he sips the broth. "You haven't eaten since nine and I thought you would like something warm to wake you up. Can I sit?" I motion to the bed. He nods and looks over to the clock. "Seven o'clock? I thought you left at five yesterday?" He asks, concerned but his voice still quiet. I look around for an excuse. "Well I..err..I needed the hours and they needed someone to fill in so..." I trail off. He just smirks and slurps a noodle off of his spoon.

Just as we are getting into a conversation about our personal lives, a tall man with curly brown hair and glasses walks in. "Tyler!" Mark says and coughs. I stand up and brush off my scrubs. "I'll leave you two be." I say and start to walk out. "No, wait. Why don't you stay here with us?" You're okay with that, right, Tyler?" He nods and sits in a seat next to Mark's bed. I put a finger up. "I just have to check something, I'll be right back." I say and exit the room.

"Hey Amanda, can you take over main desk for me?" I ask one of my co-workers who is sitting on her phone. She nods and sits in Lily's seat. I thank her and slide into the break room. I search through the cupboards for anything Tyler and Mark may like and decide on M&M's. I walk back into room 16 smiling. Mark looks up at me excitedly and moves his legs over so I can sit on the bed next to him. Instantly, all three of us start making jokes and laughing. Before I know it, it's nine o'clock and I have to check on other patient.

"I have to get going. I won't be able to get you for another half an hour so if you call you will get a different nurse." Mark looks suddenly sad. We all say our goodbyes as I leave the room. I walk back to the main desk. Amanda is looking at me weird. "Were you just in room 16?" She asks. "Yeah..." I respond, confused. She looks at her computer, worried. "Do you know what happened?" I shake my head slowly. He has to be in a hospital for a reason. She takes a deep breath and says, "he was in a car crash. There's rumors that him surviving was almost impossible. He's been here for almost a week."
