I wake up in a strange bed, a man I know too well with his red hair spread out on the pillow sleeping next to me. I sit up, rubbing my eyes and getting used to my surroundings. My warm feet touch the cool ground as I balance sleepily. Mark turns in his sleep and I freeze. He settles as I walk out the door into a quiet house, everyone still sleeping.

The smell of bacon and pancakes fill the air as I figure out where everything is in their kitchen. Ethan walks into the room, rubbing his eyes and looking at me. He smiles and says good morning, sitting down at the table. "I hope you don't mind me using half of your food." I half whisper as I turn the heat down on the pancakes and flip them. Ethan says to not worry about it as he looks at his phone. Just as there is a silence between us, Tyler walks in.

"You didn't have to do this." Tyler says as he looks at the pancakes and bacon. "I thought it would be a little treat from me to you guys." I say, adding chocolate chips to the top of an uncooked pancake. Tyler stirs the bacon and gets a plate to put the pieces on, getting tongs and setting the steaming food on the plate. He sets the plate of bacon on the table Ethan is sitting at and grabs four plates, setting them on the table in front of the chairs.

Just as I set the whipped cream and chocolate syrup on the table, Mark walks in sleepy eyed and smiling. He kisses the top of my head and sits down next to me, grabbing a pancake and some bacon. We all eat while making small talk until there is only one pancake left on the plate. Both Mark and Tyler are full, but Ethan and I look at it, then each other. We instantly give each other devil eyes and position our forks into a combat pose. In the blink of an eye, both of our forks have stabbed the pancake. We fight for the pancake, until Tyler comes in with a knife and cuts the pancake in half. We all laugh as I take a bite out of the pancake. This is the best morning I've had in a long time.

Since Mark had videos prepared, everyone has some free time. "It's Monday, so nothing will be really busy." Tyler says. We all nod and look up things to do. Eventually, Mark mentions we go out for a walk around town. We all agree and get our shoes on, walking outside into the chilly 9AM wind but warming sun. We walk around the town for a while, talking about random subjects and enjoying the calming serenity of the quiet streets.

As we are walking back, Mark starts to fall behind. I look back at him, a concerned look replacing my happy one as he clenches his stomach, becoming very pale. I run up to him and ask him what's wrong. "My stomach just started to ache really badly." He says, looking up at me. "I'll be fine, let's just get home." He straightens up, trying to walk normally. Everyone rushes home and makes room on the couch for Mark, him laying down and turning on his side.

"Should we take him to the hospital?" I ask anxiously. Tyler nods and calls for an ambulance. I hope he's okay. Ethan and I walk back into the office, looking over the couch at him. "An ambulance will be here soon. Just sit tight." I say calmly. Mark just nods, looking as if he's about to vomit. I grab him a trash can from the corner of the room, but just as I am about to set it next to him, he grabs it from my hand and sticks his face into it.

The ambulance comes and we all pile inside with Mark in the back. He is clenching his stomach with one hand and holding my hand with the other. The back of the ambulance is silent, everyone looking down at the floor. We glance at each other for a second, Mark making slight noises of pain. I squeeze his hand as we pull into the hospital. For the first time, he opens his eyes. He looks at me and smiles, somehow telling me that it is going to be okay.

I pay no attention to where we are or where we are going, I just keep my eyes on Mark. We pull into a room that seems familiar to me. Masked doctors lay him down and hook him up with wires. My mind shows a picture of what he looked like the first day and I flinch. Ethan looks at me and asks if I'm okay. "Yeah, I'm fine." I say, looking around.

Suddenly, everything becomes blurry as I look around at the same room I have had to walk into every five minutes only a week ago. Images flash in my head of the pain he had to go through. Who knows what he had to go through before I saw him. I snap back into reality as Ethan puts a hand on my shoulder, steadying me. "Are you sure you are okay?" He asks. I just nod and look at Mark, who also just figured out where he is.

Ethan and Tyler say they are going to get water and a snack from a vending machine outside. I stay with Mark until two masked nurses ask me to leave. "We are going to do an x-ray. It would be best if you left the room." They say. I know I can be in the room, they just don't want me to be. Mark looks at me and grabs my hand. "It's okay. Everything will be fine." He says. I can feel tears dwell up in my eyes. I smile and nod, walking out of the room.

I look for Tyler and Ethan, the only thing I need right now is a hug. I turn a corner and see them looking anxiously at the machine. Ethan turns his head and smiles, but it fades quickly. I run up to him and wrap my arms around his neck, crying on his shoulder. He just hugs me back and tells me it's going to be okay. Why does this always have to happen to me? Once I find happiness in my life, something ruins it. I get lost in my thoughts as Ethan comforts me, Tyler wrapping his arms around both of us. I chuckle and start thinking about all of the fun things we have done, and maybe what we will do.

We eventually part and look around, looking for something to do. We find ourselves walking around the hospital, whispering about various things. We wander back to Mark's room and wait outside, hoping for any sign that he is okay. The masked nurses walk out of the room and we jump up, asking if we can go inside. One nurse just nods and walks away, her red hair flowing behind her. We all pile inside but stop at the door, looking at an unconscious Mark. We tiptoe up to the bed, me moving his hair out of his face. Ethan and Tyler back up and sigh, knowing it's going to take a while for him to wake up. I just pull up a chair and grab Mark's hand. I'm going to sit through this with him, no matter what happens.

Ethan and Tyler leave to check on Chica. About ten minutes after they leave, Mark wakes up. He looks around until his eyes land on me. He smiles and says, "God, you're so beautiful. What a perfect thing to wake up to." He says. I blush and look down, smiling. He grabs my hand and pulls me close to the bed. We are only inches from each other. Finally, after about ten seconds of looking into his sparkling brown eyes, he kisses me. I smile into the kiss, enjoying the moment for as long as I can.

We eventually part, smiling at each other. Mark moves over in his bed, giving me room to sit next to him. I lay down on the bed and turn to face Mark, him doing the same. We talk about what happened while he was gone and what Ethan, Tyler, and I talked about while we walked the halls. Mark just listens and smiles at me the whole time, admiring my features. I stop talking and smile back, looking into his beautiful dark brown eyes. After a while, Tyler and Ethan come back, but they freeze in the doorway. Mark turns around and grins at the two, welcoming them in. I sit up but stay in the bed under the warmth of the covers. I know Mark will be okay, no matter what.
