Chapter One
It was a cold early morning in West Virginia, where Amelia- her nickname Mia- and I were scarfing down our breakfast getting ready for our first day at our new school. I was wearing a pair of black skinny jeans, a long grey sleeve shirt and jean jacket, with her hair straight down and wearing minimal makeup. She wore her favorite brand new pair of gray uggs with a black button on the side.
Mia wore her brunnete hair in waves and had on a plain purple v-neck. She wore dark washed caprees and pair of black toms, with a new jean jacket that matches Scarlets.
Amelia and I are exaclty fourteen months apart, and with Amelia getting held back in first grade, put us both in junior year in highscool. I also have a little brother, who is in the fifth grade and is quite a handful for such a ten year old. His name is Lucas, and I love him to death no matter what.
I was finishing off the last bite of my pop tart as Amelia was eating the rest of her cereal quickly. Mia rushed to the sink and dumped her now empty cereal bowl in there quickly cleaning it off and then placing it into the dish washer. I dumped my empty paper plate into the trash can turned around just in time to see my mom and little brother descend down the stairs and enter the kitchen.
I slightly smile at my mother, knowing my mom is going to give the three of us a big first day of school speech. I locks eyes with Amelia, as she gives me a knowing look as if she was thinking the same thing. we both roll our eyes are our mom walks around the island counter and gives the both of us a good morning hug and kiss. Lucas starts putting all his new back to school supplies in his new batman back pack he got for the new year.
Our mother, Juliet, smiles at us, proud of how well we've taken our new move. Which was very sudden by the way, and we had literally a matter of a couple days to leave and pack up and move here a couple weeks ago.
Mom clears her throat, trying to gain our attention. All three of us simutaenously turn our heads and stare at our mother, emotionless. We know what she's about to do next.
"Amelia, Scarlet, I need the both of you to make sure you are completly under control at all times. I know we haven't practice much magic lately but I need you guys to try to blend in as normal as possible. As far as I know there are no witches in this town and I need us to be a secret, we don't need to be outted within your first day of school."
I roll my eyes at my mother. Mia was the one who got caught using magic in the back of the school in their hometown! Not me! Because of Mia, we all had to move from Washington to here. I love my sister, a lot, but sometimes, she can be so careless. In our hometown witches were known really well, and they were banned to use magic because a lot witches that were there used dark magic. Sense we were outted we got kicked out of town and forced to move far away.
"Mom, maybe you should be telling a certain other person about this..." I tilted my head towards Mia's way causing Mia to glare at me and cross her arms across her chest. "I mean, I haven't used magic out side of the house in months, way before we got caught." I said the last part glaring at Mia.
"How many times do I have to tell you? It was an accident! I didn't know that goody goody kid was hiding behind the trash can when I used magic to lift up my stupid text books. Technically it's that nerds fault, for being a snitch!".
I scoffed rather loudly, causing mom to groan in annoyance, "Damn it. Mia, Carly, stop with the constant bickering about magic! We need to let go of the past, and open up to our new future." Mom turned to Mia and said, "Sweetie, I know you didn't mean to get caught, but I beg you, to please, please, be more careful here. Especially sense this seams to be a town unaware of the supernatural." Then she shifted her attention to me, "Carly, I need you to do the same, even if you weren't at fault for what happened in Washington....but I need you girls to just, blend in as much as possible. I know your upset that you had to leave all your friends behind and everything, but I need you to be strong and do this for us." Mom looked down at Lucas and smiled brightly at him, "Luke, I know you're starting to get your powers, but I need you to make sure you never do magic outside of this house unless it's an emergency. You understand?".
