Colin stopped by my house So i could grab some fresh clothes for school. I asked him to wait in the car because I knew I'd only be gone a few minutes. As I rushed up stairs I noticed something something familiar, it was the same picture I had seen at Colin's house. I studied it closer to see what it was. It was of Colin and Shawn, they could only be about twelve in the picture; they apparently were friends at some point. I pushed passed it for a while so I could change and rushed to Colin's truck.
"So, do you know Shawn well? " I asked. He was silent for a few minutes, but let out a breath.

"Yeah, I do, or at least I did for a while." For a while? What did that mean? I looked him over for a while and asked him about it, "don't worry about it. Let's just keep it at something bad happened and it change our friendship," he said. I nodded but couldn't help but wonder what happened.

Once we had reached the school, he showed me where my class was. I was a little late but since I was new they did not care much; I glanced around the room and did not see either of my "Brothers" around. Okay, English is safe. Class one, check. I didn't speak much during class, I barely even looked up from the book I was reading; but soon enough the class had ended and I had rushed off to my next class, Health.

Oh, no. Abort mission, abort mission! Run the other way. Shawn is in my Health period and was heading toward me so I turn around but ran into the teacher spilling her coffee on the floor. Frantically, I began to apologize and try to clean it. She just laughed at me. "What?" I asked.

"You must be my new student?" I nodded sheepishly. I gave her a cowardly smile and looked around the room. The only seat I could find was in the very back by the jock squad, or in front of Shawn. I didn't feel like dying, but I also didn't feel like being hit on every day by neanderthals who can catch a ball. I chose the seat in front of Shawn. Maybe it won't be bad.
Class felt like it took forever; I guess that's what happens when you do nothing but wish for it to be over. As I was heading to my locker, I was bombarded by a group of girls. Just the,way they walked intimidated me; they must be preps.
" Hello Burgundy, you probably don't know us, but we know you. I'm Kat-short for Katherine- and these are my girls. Say hi, girls," she demanded, and me, just standing frozen and staring back. "Now, we know you're new, so me as the cheer captain, student council president and prom queen for three years straight, would like to welcome you. Why don't you join us at lunch? We'll talk more xoxo!" With that she left.
By the time lunch had crept around the corner I had already been to at least four classes and had three to go. That all includes rude teachers, random guys hitting on me, random girls snarling, and my brothers. I searched for Kat in the café, and immediately spotted her and her gang.
"Hi, I'm sorry to interrupt, but you asked me to sit..." I stumbled.
"Oh, hunny, please. Why don't you just sit and we'll get started. " I nodded and did as I was told. I listened to her ramble, but I never paid attention. I was too busy staring at how the walls had murals on them. They all connected somehow. They were beautiful with their bright colours and story about a warrior and his maiden.
"So, what do you think?"I stared blankly. They laughed this girly laugh.
"Do you want to join the cheer squad?" She asked again. I didn't say anything, but I just nodded yes. Maybe, if I did this, I would gain some friends. "Great! We'll be such great friends!!!!! Ill text you the detes," she said as she plugged her number in my phone. Once she handed me my phone, there was a familiar voice at the table.
"Hello, gorgeous!" It was Shawn; he had wrapped his arms around Kat and was sniffing her right in front if everyone. I quickly got up, but Kat had tried to introduce me to Shawn.
He looked at me with a harsh glare, "um, yeah. We have health together I think, but I have to go. I'll see you later." At that point I started running, until I ran I to someone. I looked up and saw Colin in front of me.
"We have got to stop meeting like this. You're bound to get a concussion or something. " he laugh and helped me up. I thanked him and continued on my way. I feel bad go rushing off, but sometimes you just have to.
" Wait, where are going?" he yelled.
I didn't look back; I just kept running.
By the time I was far from the school, I had calmed down. I walked to a place I hadn't ventured before, to creek. Its was shimmering in the light; little fish swam and frogs croaked. The light fought its way through the trees and hit the water just right, causing the water to become a pearl at its best. What a beautiful get away.
