Chapter 5

"So, you all want to be the Slytherin Keeper?" The Slytherin Quidditch captain, Caleb Massy, asked us. The group of us murmured our yeses and he began to explain how the tryouts would work while the rest of the Quidditch team stood beside him bored. I listened as he talked thinking everything Harry had taught me in my head. For the past week he had been teaching Ron and I Quidditch. he said I was pretty good from the beginning. But Ron needed a little more help. The Gryffindor's had their tryouts yesterday while the Slytherin's had it today on the pitch. I haven't seen the trio or Ginny and Neville today but I hoped Ron had done well. Caleb began to call out names of three of four people who would take turns blocking the chasers shots. The person with the best score, out of ten, would move on to the next round. It reminded me of a game show just a lot more physical.

"Ebony Tonks." Caleb read off of the roster. I was the last person to be called and I was in the back of the group so no one really saw me. Every kid trying out scowled at me. Even Caleb scowled at me along with the rest of the team. Including Malfoy which made me laugh. I walked up to the other kids trying out and watched as they blocked goals. They were all pretty good but I felt confident I was better. The best kid, Joslin Tedder, had blocked six out of ten goals. I mounted the school broom I was using and flew up to the goal posts. The chasers all smirked at me and began to throw shots. I could tell they threw them all much harder and quicker than they did for everyone else but I still easily flew back and forth swiftly catching or kicking every ball back at them.

"Did I win?" I asked cheekily flying back down to Caleb. His mouth was open in shock but he quickly closed it looking down at his clipboard. I turned my head slightly to the right to see the rest of the team's reactions. Malfoy was glaring at me while the rest of the team were shocked. I smiled looking back at Caleb. He looked up at me then the other group winners then back at me.

"Welcome to the team."

I skipped along outside by the lake happily. I was waiting anxiously until dinner so I could tell my friends about me making the team. I now had a team uniform and a new broom sitting up in my dorm ready for our first practice. Technically I would wear it to our game first but they told me I didn't need much practice. Just block the balls. I had to miss practice because I still had another week of detention. Suddenly I remembered that I still hadn't written my letter to Sirius. I wonder if he remembers me? Or if it wasn't him? Well, I guess I'll know after he replies. In a good mood I skipped over to my bag and pulled out some parchment and a quill beginning to write.

Dear Snuffles,

I wrote using the fake name Harry told me to use. I tapped the feather on the quill to my chin thinking what to write.

My name is Ebony Tonks. Your cousin, Andromeda, is my mother. I think that makes you my uncle? Not sure. But she talks about you and I've always wanted to meet you. By the way she doesn't think you're a criminal. Neither do I. I have a memory of myself as a baby and you were there. I just have some questions for you if you wouldn't mind. I know this all sounds very weird but you can trust me. I would just like to meet with you some place and ask you some things. Unanswered questions kind of. I hope you are well and hope I can see you soon.
