Chapter 8

The next morning the sound of feet woke me up. I wasn't on the Common Room couch anymore. Instead I was in my bed in my dorm. I frowned confused. I know I fell asleep on the couch? How did I get up here? Maybe someone brought me up here. But none of the girls could carry me up the steps? I groaned confused sitting up in my bed. Victoria was the only one who stayed for Christmas and she was leaving the dorm which woke me up. I was surprised to see presents at the foot of my bed.

Oh! It's Christmas.

I thought to myself. I pulled the pile closer to me wondering why it only had two or three presents. I'm not trying to be selfish but that's not even enough presents for both my mom and dad, and my sister to send me a present. Unless only they gave me a present and none of my friends did. I haven't given them their presents yet but I got all my friends presents. I got the twins a book of muggle pranks, Hermione a book on magical birds, Ginny a pretty scarf, Harry a book on Defensive spells, Ron a cauldron full of sweets, Tonks a book about Metamorphaguses, Mom a cooking book, Dad a new T-shirt, and finally Neville some type of plant I found in Hogsmede. I pulled the biggest present towards me and ripped it open. It was a big book on Herbology. I frowned at it reading the tag. Why would Neville get me a book about Herbology? Then I looked at the title of the book.

"The Big Book Of Herbology Cheats." I mumbled smiling. I still didn't want to be friends with the Gryffindors anymore afraid of the dream but it felt good to smile for a second. I then picked up the last present. It was a medium box and it made a slight rattling noise when I shook it. It was from my parents. I tore open the wrapping to reveal a box. I opened that to see an assortment of things. But I smiled seeing the theme. Green and black. There was a metal headband with green crystals in it, a pair of black lace up boots with green laces, a black jacket with green designs on it, a green and black hat that reminded me of a berea, and one last thing. It was in a smaller box with a note taped to it.

Dear Ebony,

We talked it over with Dumbledore and he agreed that you can use this on school grounds. I hope you like it! Make sure to send me a letter over Christmas break.

I eyed the box suspiciously taking off the lid. Once I saw what it was I grinned. I had saw it in a muggle shop once but mom said it was too expensive and I couldn't use it on school grounds anyway. I picked up the green iPod gently holding it in my hand. It wasn't super fancy just played music. Which is exactly what I need right now. I shook my head looking back into the small box. There were black ear buds for me to use and I immediately took them out plugging them into the iPod. I turned it on and looked through the songs. I don't listen to muggle music a lot but these bands were great. The iPod already had thousands of songs including Evanescence, Secondhand Serenade, Simple Plan, Within Temptation, and hundreds of other artists. I smiled as a song came on. It was called "Why." by Secondhand Serenade. I liked it right away and stayed in my bed listening to more songs until lunch when I finally changed because I hadn't eaten in two days. I pulled on some black skinny jeans and my new boots. Along with the jacket and the headband. I also tied my hair in a side braid with a black ribbon after putting on my Black Cobra shirt. They were a wizard band that Tonks and I loved.
