After a long phone call Briena returned to the living room. She looked annoyed as ever but I was too angry, hurt, disappointed and exhausted to ask.

"Dee can I ask you to do me a favour?"

I didn't even look at her. Couldn't she just leave me alone? Couldn't I just escape this cruel world? Be on my own for a little while, not having to think about anything or please anyone.

"Come on it's important." She persisted.

Crushing the left side of my body because of her sudden jump onto the couch Briena pleaded. Eventually I gave in to her begging, first I needed to know what she wanted me to do.

"Okay mom and dad seem to be running late, something came up I guess, I totally forgot I have to buy Michaela a birthday present for tomorrow so Kyrie and I are going to look for one right now."

I waited for her to finish.

"Mom's not here and she was supposed to cook dinner and I can't because of my little errand."

"So you need me to cook dinner?"  Couldn't she have asked me to braid her hair or something?

"Pretty please, pretty pretty please." She added the puppy eyes. "Keith can help you right Keith?"

My sister and I both looked at Keith. She was trying to get him to agree. But I had just realized that I was going to be left alone with him. Which meant I had to make him feel welcome, talk to him. I was in no mood for small talk or any talk. Why couldn't he tag along?

"Yeah sure." He replied simply.

She then looked back to me for my answer.

"Whatever." She did a little jump that made her look like a leprechaun  although I wasn't sure there was one as tall as her that ever existed.

"We'll all be back in time for dinner, love you bye."

Soon her car could be heard backing away from driveway and silence filled the living room.
I seemed to have adapted Jacque's ways as I ran a hand through my thick hair and palms down my face to try to forget everything. Good luck with that Diana,my subconscious wished me.

"Dinner right? Okay kind sir follow me." I stood up and didn't let Keith respond,he did agree to help.
We trotted into the kitchen turning the lights on and I headed to the fridge while my assistant stayed put by the counter.

"Let's see, we have cauliflower, broccoli, cottage cheese, peppers, spinach, tomato paste, mince meat and I think we have some pasta in the pantry, we could make our own version of spaghetti bolognese."
He nodded.

"What do you need me to do?" He asked.

"Why don't you get a pot over there to boil water for the pasta and I'll take care of the meat."

He took a pot and walked over to the sink, filling the port with water. I,on the other hand got a knife and a chopping board for the vegetables.
I decided to open the windows by the sink because I knew it would soon get hot in the kitchen.

Looking outside the kitchen I could see a swing that Jacque had helped me build on the tree. It was meant to be sat on by one person but we always managed to squeeze both of us on it. That swing had witnessed many make out sessions to last the tree that supported it a lifetime.
The bittersweet memory left a sharp pain in my heart and in turn I pushed the window to open with a strong force because of my anger.

Turning around abruptly to go back to my work station I collided with Keith and his pot full of water so of course the water spilled,on both of us.
