Lights of colors red, blue, green, I think there was more but that's all I could make out, were flashing brightly through every opening of the house. Still couldn't figure out why I had agreed to this. I could smell the alcohol from where my car was parked. A bunch of teens were already drunk and had their words slurring. What had this world come to?

"OMG! Brie! You made it! Oh my gosh I haven't seen you in like forever, we should totally try to catch up tomorrow." That was my sister's friend, Michaela, the owner of this party.
I never understood the need for girls to 'catch up' ,only for you guys to loose contact again and go back to square one.

After my sister greeted her long lost friend, she introduced the rest of us. I couldn't help but notice how Michaela had her eyes stuck on Keith. Not that I was jealous or anything but if she was my sister's friend, then it meant she was probably older than Keith. Now that's just disgusting, for her to have interest in a younger guy.

See one reason why I never wanted to come to this party anyway was because I knew my sister would disappear into thin air and I would be left to linger around with no purpose. Of course now Keith would be with me but again, I'm not one for small talk.

Just like I expected girls were all over him the minute we made it to the house entrance. I decided he would catch up with me once he finished collecting all the numbers.
I made it to the kitchen where I saw a bowl of red punch but I decided against. Never trust the punch at any given party. This punch was the reason why most of these girls were throwing themselves at these guys without being aware of their own actions.
So I moved over to the fridge, there should be a decent drink in there.
I could hear people walking into the kitchen as looked deeper in the fridge.

"Come on we could go upstairs and have our little fun." A girl said in a supposed seductive voice.

"Nah I'm cool." A deep voice spoke. I have to say that was the first time I'd ever heard a guy turning down sex. Kudos to him.
The couple walked past me and continued their debate somewhere in the kitchen. I found two cans of lemonade, not sure whether Keith would want one but I took it either way.
As I turned, closing the fridge, I made eye contact  with gold brown eyes that I had seemed to have forgotten for a little while.
Jacque stopped his beer bottle in mid air and put it back on the counter. He was now paying absolutely zero attention to the girl beside him.
I now understood why he turned her down. I still crossed his mind. Of course you do Diana, he's not a total jackass after all huh? My subconscious defended him.

He continued to stare at me and I wasn't  backing down either. We both had a lot to say but we just didn't know how. When he got impatient like he always did, he literally shoved the girl to the side and made his way towards me. Just as he was about to get a hold of my arm, Keith came from behind me.

"Oh there you are, I've been looking all over for You. Is that mine?" Keith asked as he grabbed one of the cans from my hand.

Jacque and I still maintained eye contact and his eyes turned glassy and they started to shimmer. It took a while but after some time I realized  that he was about to cry. I was making him cry. He probably thought Keith was my new boyfriend, that I had moved on so easily. I wanted to move Keith out of my way and give my ex a bear hug. Tell him it's okay and that I still loved him. Even after my telephone outrage I was willing to forget everything and just be with him again. I had never seen him cry and it really wasn't a pretty sight.

"Am I disturbing something?" Keith asked. Noticing how I hadn't answered his previous question and how I was giving the tall guy I front of us all my attention.

"Jacque..." I was going to do it. I was going to get him back and make everything all right again.
But before I could make my way to him the girl spoke.
"Baby you said you wanted to forget everything tonight, come on."
