The sun was setting over the countryside, casting a beautiful golden glow. I sat at my window, taking in the magnificent sight, knowing full well that it might be the last sunset that I ever see. I was to be executed. Wrongly accused of killing one of the guards. I knew that I was innocent, but no one else knew me well enough to plead my innocence. So, here I sat, awaiting my fate which would come until the moment the sun set.
Not much more than ten minutes later, the door to my cell opened and the head of the royal guard entered.
"It's time." He said in his low, baritone, voice.
I took a deep breath. I was shaking, terrified to die. The feeling of the cold chains around my wrists sent chills up my spine.
As he lead me into the courtyard, I could feel the disappointed eyes of villagers and nobles alike on me. I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw the princess. She was staring at me with a confused look on her face, like she wasn't expecting me to be the one brought out. I had to admit, the princess was beautiful. It was nice that she showed up to witness my demise. I sighed as the blindfold was tied around my eyes. The anticipation of the pain was worse than it probably was going to be. I wasn't ready to die, but it seemed as though I had no choice.
"Archers at the ready!"
I could hear the faint sounds of the archers loading their bows. I swallowed hard awaiting the intense pain that would soon come.
"Ready."
"Aim."
I took a deep breath. This was it. Just as I had come to terms with my demise, I heard a shout. It was the princess.
"Stop!" She screamed. I heard her footsteps moving quickly towards me.
