"Your Majesty?" The guard asked, confused.

With the blindfold still over my eyes, I could hear the princesses breathlessness and the murmur of the spectator's disapproval.

"I would like to have a word with the accused." The princess said.

The entire crowd gasped at the princess's request. What she was doing was highly unusual and most certainly never done.

"But Your Majesty! The prisoner is dangerous!" The guard said, continuing to protest.

The princess giggled. The sound made my heart flutter. I couldn't believe that she was giggling! My life was on the line, and she was laughing as if all of this was some big joke.

"I promise you, I'll be fine. Besides, she's tied up, how much damage can she do?

The guard sighed and untied the blindfold from around my eyes. I was blinded as my eyes tried to adjust to the light.

I looked around, and was greeted by two faces. One was hard and menacing, while the other was kind and gentle. I was taken aback by how beautiful the princess was up close. Her brown hair framing her features perfectly. The seams of her navy blue gown hugged her every curve, leaving little to the imagination. Her brown eyes looked deep into mine like she was searching for something. As she looked at me, I couldn't help but feel vulnerable, like she could see every secret that I had locked away in the far corners of my mind. And yet, I wanted to let her in.

STOP IT I told myself. SHE IS THE PRINCESS

I sighed and tried to look away from those gorgeous brown eyes, but couldn't seem to find the strength.

Eventually, her hypnotic glance was broken when she turned towards the guard.

"Alone." She said.

The guard looked at me with daggers. He looked at me as if to say 'If you lay one hand on her, I will rip out your guts and feed them to the wolves.'

I nodded. There was no way I was going to even look at her let alone touch her. How could I? She looked as if she was made of porcelain. Like one of those expensive dolls in town that would crack at even the slightest touch. How could I even get near her?

The guard stepped away, and it was just her and I. My heart was beating a million miles a minute. What would she say? More importantly, what would I say?

"Hmm... You don't look like a murderer. Not even in the slightest. Your eyes scream innocence, so why are you here? Why are you allowing them to kill you?"

I gasped. She could tell that I was innocent. Something that no one had done since I was accused. I had no idea what to say, so I said the first thing that popped into my mind like an idiot would do.

"No one else believed that I was innocent. Everyone just assumed. They had no evidence other than I was the last one to see Joshua before he was killed."

She smiled and I almost passed out.

"Well, I believe you and my opinion is the only one that matters. I promise that you will be freed."

"Thank you, Your Majesty."

She giggled.

"Ugh, that sounds so formal, call me Grace."

I smiled.

"Okay, Grace. I again have to thank you. Without you, I would be dead."

Her expression darkened, like the subject of death was suddenly too much for her. I was concerned about her change in demeanor.

"What is it, Grace?" I asked. She shook her head, as if she were shaking whatever thoughts were in her mind away.

"Nothing." She replied.

I had only known her for a few minutes, but I could already tell that there was something wrong, I wasn't going to pester, because who was I, a lowly peasant, to question the princess?

"Let her go." Grace said to the guard in a commanding tone.

The guard was hesitant. I couldn't blame him, afterall, he thought that I was a murderer.

"Are you sure, your majesty?"

She nodded.

"I have questioned the girl further and have concluded that she is innocent of any and all charges."

He sighed and continued to look at me with a dagger like glare. He still didn't believe that I was innocent, but would go with whatever Grace said. It was almost too obvious that he had feelings for her, who could blame him? She was beautiful. If I were honest, I would say that even I was developing a little crush, but I have only known her for the span of ten minutes, how could I? The look in his eyes, the way he looked at her, it was adorable.

"Chester." She began.

"Please let her go."
