*Hannah's P.O.V*
Ella and I walked down the mountain together, partially to see her to safety and partially for me to look for firewood. I couldn't survive another night up here without heat.
"So,"
I began, trying to break the awkward silence.
"What were you doing up here in the first place?"
The brunette shrugged as we collected bits of wood."I was taking a walk and got kind of... Lost."
I smiled.
"Yeah. Kind of."
With her free hand, she playfully nudged me as we continued to walk.
"What about you? What are you doing up here?"
She asked. My smile faded as I remembered Grace and everything that happened back home. I couldn't tell her. I needed to trust her and she hadn't exactly earned that yet.
"Oh you know... Just doing the usual. Run away from your problems by escaping into the forest. The usual."
She laughed and it made me feel good. I loved making people smile and laugh.
"No, but really, why are you actually up here?"
I wasn't going to tell her. I couldn't. It might be dangerous for the both of us. So, I changed the subject.
"Not important. Let's just get you back home."
I could see in her eyes that she knew I was lying, but she also knows that it's none of her business so she let the subject drop.
When we got to the bottom, Ella and I had just about run out of things to talk about, so it was good that we had come to the end of our journey."Thank you again for saving me. I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't come along."
I scoffed and smiled.
"It was just the right thing to do."
Her brown eyes met mine and I realized that I really liked the color. Though her eyes were a pretty shade of the color, they didn't compare to Grace's. Grace's eyes were like being transported to a whole other world and I loved them.
"At least let me do something to repay you. The whole kingdom is invited to the princess's engagement party. Will you come with me?"
The request took me by surprise and couldn't think of an immediate answer. As I continued to think about it, it finally registered that the princess was Grace. Just the thought of her was the only convincing I needed.
"I'd love to. "
The brunette smiled and started making her way home. As she got halfway down the road, she turned to face me, like she had forgotten something.
"Do you actually have anywhere to stay tonight?"
I shook my head. I really didn't. That mountain was the last place I wanted to be tonight. So, I was not going to let this opportunity pass.
She smiled.
"Well what are you waiting for? C'mon!"
I had to admit, I was a little hesitant, but I didn't have anything to lose anymore. I was getting a place to stay and I was getting to see Grace. Oh god. GRACE. This was HER engagement party to CHESTER. Every memory came flooding back. If he saw me there, he might kill me, or worse, kill Grace. This was a bad idea, but I still needed to see her. I would just need to be careful. I was not about to lose Grace, not again.
A/N: Hey guys! I know this chapter is kind of short, but it's just filler. I am super excited for this story and to show y'all where this goes. Hope you enjoy!
