Jamal Malik
He played for his family, the money also
His childhood memories in tow
Poor child he was, long time ago
Raised in the slums
Muslims invaded
Had killed his Mother
He was forced to survive, just him and his brother
A man wanted him for his small child ways
Made him beg and beg
Till his master had enough for a keg
And the money came in in trays
Older now, he fell in love
A girl with the name
Latika, her hair hung loose, no braids
Master got angry, chased them as they ran
Jumped on a train, Latika let go
"Have the answer?" the host asked, he repeated it more
Jamal stared into space
He answered correctly
16 million rupees! He looked so surprised
They thought he had cheated
They then tortured him so
How could a slumdog be so knowledagable?
His memories, they didn't know, were what helped him though
