''See you after work.'' Youngsoon's friends got in one of their classmates' car and drove off to the pizzeria they worked at. Jiyeon's aim there was to approach JB, a guy she had liked since the beginning of the semester but Zinni never told Youngsoon why she decided to take the part-time job. Probably for the same reason as she also took interest toward a boy named Junior but she didn't appear as enthusiastic as Jiyeon.
Youngsoon took the main road and went past the hundreds of boutiques and cafes. At some point, she turned left and walked through a narrow street. Half-way she stopped on her track. For some odd reason, she found some guy's silhouette so recognizable, seen in the dance studio for days. He was standing still with a plastic bag of some men brand on his wrist while his arms were situated as if his hands were put in his pockets. Two straps were positioned on the left and right side of his torso. Probably his backpack glued to his chest. The passenger's traffic lights above his head showed the red-filled man. The girl resumed walking; some seconds later the green-filled man popped below the red one who disappeared at the same time.
But from the left end of the road, a silver Porche jeep popped out with incredibly high velocity. It was being driven zig-zag; its wheels screeching unpleasantly in the ears of a small number of commuters, including her. The windows were too dim to allow her eyes to see if the driver's state was that of a forlorn drunk or of somebody who lost control of the vehicle. The female was only alarmed about the boy's danger. She feared he noticed the treacherous circumstance he's in but he didn't move from his place. He had that sorrowful look, a look of defeat, of giving up as if he didn't mind dying. Why does he want to commit suicide when he has a career that he has worked for diligently? She could not stand looking at Jungkook like that. She sprinted towards him, grasped his unoccupied wrist and they both ran until they entered the safe zone. He didn't squirm in protest.
''Hey! Come back here!'' A man demanded from behind.
Youngsoon became terrified. Is that man trying to hit him? She didn't have enough courage to look at the stranger and gradually accelerated her speed. They finally came in a small park.
''Hey! You two!'' The man shouted again. Seemed like he was chasing them. They were in big trouble.
''Where are you taking me?'' Jungkook asked with a hint of alarm in his voice. Continuing to dash, she looked around for a place to hide. She came across a street name sign which she could not forget to thank.
''You'll see,'' She replied confidently. The girl was amused by his steady breathing. They'd been running like mad for a while but he didn't pant. He could be a potential athlete.
She led him to a hill, bypassed it and stepped into a big hole under it. The good thing was it's dark so our hideout was secure and all theirs till the dangerous man was clear from their sight.
They rested for a bit; their focus was their breathing to go back to normal. Then her eyes searched for his. With his black mask on, he was gazing down, with the same gloomy look a while back. But she was too impatient to let him zone out.
''Are you insane?! A car was about to leave you injured and you stood there doing nothing about it?''
Jungkook woke up from his trance and looked up. He glued his eyes to her. He was frustrated and she sensed his upcoming remarks as furious as he felt.
''I never told you to f*cking save me! Don't f*cking meddle in my affairs and I won't meddle in yours.'' He whispered sharply.
''How can I leave you to die? You're so young! You have a life ahead of you!'' Youngsoon said in the same fashion.
''You don't even f*cking know what I've been through! I deserve early death!''
''Nobody deserves early death! There's nothing in this world that can justify death. Death... is a dimension of nothing. There's no motivation, no duty, no goal, no life in death. Why would you look forward to it?''
