Dohyeong's uncomprehending emotions

Jongdae had been acting strange lately and Youngsoon noticed the peculiar behaviour when he suddenly started stammering for the first time on their phone calls a couple weeks ago; she couldn't see what caused the professor to do so and had addressed the matter a few times to him, but he told her it wasn't anything she should worry about. And the female student was initially going to let it pass until he began rescheduling their meetings which immediately became a habit for the two. The thing was Chen insisted on not telling her the truth behind the issue and the girl was always left with empty hands. She couldn't prevent herself from frowning but it wasn't like she could be angry at him for long. All she was able to do was to wait for him to reveal the mystery behind his conduct at the right moment.

But neither of them forgot to do their share of the work. The educator kept playing with his cylinders together with his Biology student while Youngsoon never lost her sight of Jungkook. There was something about him that threw her off but she didn't know if she was able to consider it as an unusual pattern in him. To say that Jungkook greeted her (Dohyeong, to be more correct) in a friendly manner is shocking. She couldn't believe he smiles at her without making it look forceful. He is genuinely happy to see her every morning and BTS marked that change as well. What's more, he is the one who initiates the conversation, offers her a bottle of water to drink and sees her off after practice. She hasn't even imagined that he would text her messages or even get calls from him; her heart jumped frantically when she received the first message from him, in bewilderment. This is not real. Youngsoon pondered whether she ought to answer back but the moment he sent her another text with cute emojis and ''Are you busy?'', she began typing, not wanting for him to wait for her response any longer. Chats between became frequent and their eye-to-eye contact triggered some pounding on her heart's part. Jungkook actually didn't mind being only a few feet away from Youngsoon and that overwhelmed the poor her.

''Wow, he's really up to something, isn't he?'' Chihoon noted as both of him and the girl were looking at BTS who were discussing some moves for the performance video. Rings of laughter were exchanged between the members as V suddenly started demonstrating a chicken dance, with his silly sulky lips on display and J-hope joining the fun. Jungkook released a few giggles before he followed them, positioning his hands like a mighty rooster and making screeching animal noises. Deep inside, Youngsoon found his antics hilarious but Chihoon was giving him a look that she didn't like.

''Huh?''

''Bro, he wants something from you.'' The guy tossed the empty can of Sprite in the bin next to him. ''I don't really buy his I-will-give-you-a-chance-to-be-friends-with-me story.''

The female furrowed her eyebrows at his statement. ''Why are you so judgemental? He might really mean it.''

''Nah, I have this sixth sense which never betrays me and, believe me, he's not friends with you merely because he wants you guys to be.'' Afterward, he rose up and walked toward the dressing room to get his stuff. Youngsoon trailed after him to do the same.

It's true that, at first, she deemed it very surprising that Jungkook would be willing to befriend her but the idea was not that unconventional. She could understand his decision not have anything awkward between them and she truly appreciated his efforts.

But Chihoon's words were stuck in her brain and she wondered if there was a probability that he was right about Jungkook's possible hidden intentions behind doors. Anyhow, she opted not to let Chihoon's warning ruin her entire day.

''Are you leaving?'' Jungkook, who was located behind some of the members, asked curiously.

''Yeah. See you guys.'' Youngsoon bowed and marched forward, catching up with Chihoon who stood at the peak of stairs on the floor they were at.
