the light patter of rain soothes my mind as i finish my final stitch on Auggies jeans. My knuckles crack quietly as i clasp the lid of my sewing kit closed.

"Hey, do you have a pair of scissors i could borrow?" Glenn asks, head popping in through my screen door

"Oh yes honey, let me get them" i say, a smile on my face "you never come see me anymore."

"I'm sorry, Wynn. How about me and Maggie and Avery come over for dinner? We'll bring everything and even clean afterwards."

"oh, trying to sweeten her up for her sewing needs?" Amaris says behind Glenn, bumping him with her hip as she slides in the house. I am halfway to the door when Amaris stops me, sets down the basket of white linens and takes the scissors.

"Look, i'm just offering, get off my back" Glenn jokes in a serious tone and Amaris rolls her eyes.

"Glenn, go home. And you better bring those scissors back." She says handing them to him.

"Tomorrow night, darling." I call after him and Amaris smiles as she shuts the door on Glenn's receding figure.

"Alright, dinner? Aaron thought he'd have some soup but had some left over. He said it's for us." She says pulling a big canteen of soup out of the basket.

"Ooh, Let me get cleaned up first." I say and begin my walk to the bathroom.

I'm old. My joints crack and pop, my skin is starting to wrinkle. I know i walk slow. But Amaris takes good care of me, everything is settled in the world. Society is becoming whole again. The world is finally at ease with itself.

I finish in the bathroom and my cane is resting outside the door. I give a small smile at Amaris and walk to the table where she's already gotten bowls ready.

"Alright, what should it be this time?" I ask her

"You've told me a bunch of stories about your life, but you've never told me about the New Age." She says when i've settled

"The New Age? Well you can read about it through Gabriel's book." A few years after the war between alexandria, hilltop, the kingdom, and the sanctuary Gabriel wrote a book about their history. It's shared within our societies and fellow groups.

"Yes, but Gabriel only talked about Alexandria's group. Not One Direction. I wanna know about that." She says, eyes cast down at her fingers almost as if she's nervous to be asking.

"It's a long story."

"That's okay, i don't mind. Unless you've got something to do" she offers and i inhale deeply.

"Alright, get comfy." I say and she gives a bright grin.
