Oliver didn't have to think before answering the phone, in that old red booth today. It was second nature, and there was nothing he would rather do.
"Well if it isn't my favourite American."
"Oly!! Awww I'm your favourite??... how many americans do you know."
"Enough, I'm sure."
"Mmhm. Well okay then."
"How are you today, Charlie?"
"I am very good, thank you."
"I'm very glad to hear it. To what do I owe the pleasure of your call today?"
"Ahah you know I don't ever have a sound reason to call you, but I was just thinking I wanted to tell you something but I've totally forgotten what it was..."
"Was it perhaps that I am your favourite englishman??"
"Ahaha, what? No, sorry. But let me know when you can do better than Tom Holland. Then you'll be my favourite."
"Wow. I can't even decide if I should feel wounded, or challenged!"
"Hmm how 'bout boooth.."
"..."
"Kidding!"
"..Whatever you say princess."
"Ahah, anyway...."
"Anyway, you were going to tell me something."
"Yeah but I forgot it. Remember?"
"You haven't unforgotten by now?"
"Regardless if that is a real word in the english language or not, no, I have not unforgotten."
"Hm, then I suppose we must come up with another subject for communication."
"Okay... Are you really happy about something? I can practically hear your smile from here."
"Yeah? Haha maybe I am."
"What's got you so happy, then?"
"Nothing in particular, I'd say. Maybe just the sound of your voice..."
"..."
"...Are you blushing?"
"No..."
"..."
"Stop smirking! You do not have that kind of effect over me.."
"Oh, okay, well that's good to know. Thank you."
"..You're still smirking."
"Because you're still talking, I wasn't kidding about your voice."
"Oh. Okay, well anyway... how's your day been?"
"Splendid."
"Haha you're so british."
"And proud!"
"Great, I'm practically talking with a buckingham palace guard!"
"How did you guess??"
"Oh my goodness, stop. You are not, I was joking."
"No truly, you've guessed it! In one way or another. My dad does work with the guard, so I'm practically there."
"Really? Well from my limited American knowledge on such things I would say that is a pretty dope job."
"And I would tend to agree."
"Oh good, our first consensus today!"
"Haha, what a landmark in the conversation."
"For real."
"But anyho--"
"I'VE REMEMBERED!!!"
"Gosh--"
"I've remembered what I was going to tell you!"
"Oh fantastic! I am all ears-- or possibly, I'm 50% ears, after that.."
"I'm going to france with my french class next month! How did I forget about that??"
"Really?! That's awesome!"
"I know, right. I'm super excited. It's going to be a blast."
"For sure. Spring is so nice, in Paris. When it's not pouring of course, but sometimes even then."
"You've been?"
"Yep, went went with sports a couple times."
"You play sports??"
"Yes, I play rugby."
"Oh... I've only ever heard of it."
"Well, it's fantastic. Truly the best, in my opinion."
"But that's just because you play."
"Possibly."
"Well you'd better let me know what's so great about it-- tomorrow. I've really got to go now..."
"Ah, goodbye then, Princess. Don't ever lose the charm in your voice."
"..Goodbye, Oly."
