Chapter 6 - The King Waits

We made it downstairs sooner than we wanted but we were all clean and scrubbed. And sexually frustrated since we just can't get enough of each other. I held onto Fintan's hand as we walked into a nearby lounge, and were greeted not with just the King- but with my mate's parents as well.

I stopped dead in my tracks.

"Hello mother, father," Fintan and Jeremy both said to them nodding their heads in greeting.

"Hello sons," A low, gruff voice of my old Alpha Marcus said.

"And here's our new Luna?" asked our old Luna Serena. She was always so elegant and polished and I just nodded my head yes as she scanned me and smiled. Standing up she walked to me and gave me a big hug, that was a relief. "How are my boys treating you?" she asked with a twinkle in her eye.

Already blushing, it just deepened in my embarrassment since her 'boys' had been treating me very, very... spectacularly.

"Mother," Jeremy interrupted and walked behind me placing his hands on my hips and pulling me against him. "What an unexpected surprise." We all knew the only reason his parents rushed here was to meet the King.

"Yes, your parents were telling me stories about when you were younger, the pranks you pulled and the tricks you always played on people," the King joined in with this perpetual merry twinkle in his eyes whenever I saw him. He obviously loved watching our little dramas as I again wondered why he was here.

Fintan looked at the room and pulled me to a small sofa, placing me on his lap as he played with my hair. Jeremy sat beside us holding my hand. I felt so much better when they touched me, instantly relaxed and feeling protected and treasured.

"I've asked the kitchen staff to add two more plates for our private lunch this afternoon, they should be ready in about twenty minutes." I was glad to hear that since I was hungry.

Sighing I just relaxed into his strong arms which were holding me and I inhaled deeply, smelling the woodsy spice of Fintan, and the more earthy sandalwood scent of Jeremy. They were both just delicious.

I felt a nudge from Fintan as he looked down at me. "What?" I asked softly, obviously missing the conversation.

"My mother asked about your plans as the new Luna."

Well I had none except to have plenty of sex with my mates, so I just cleared my throat and smiled at Luna Serena. "I've only been mated for two days and haven't thought that far ahead," I replied to her feeling my blush deepen even more. My cheeks must have been absolutely glowing red by now.

"Well, Kirsteen, I heard about your attack on Melissa- who is fine by the way- and wondered if you resolved things with her yet.

Squinting my eyes a little I said, "I've resolved not to kill her in the next fifteen minutes, Luna. She has her life and that's all she's getting from me."

Luna Serena puffed up a little bit, "I'm close to her mother and she is lodging a complaint with the Elder Council about your behavior."

Taking a deep breath to control my wolf who surged forward I told her through clenched teeth, "I welcome a hearing, Luna. Melissa was a coward and ran out of the Challenges in front of the whole pack. If she goes through with the complaint I will either kill her or banish her when the issue is resolved." I ran my free hand through my hair.

But I just couldn't stay quiet thinking about my enemy. "That bitch tormented females her whole life and I should have put a stop to it sooner. She was a bully leading a small army, terrorizing most of the women of our pack- even the older ones. I'm sorry if this damages our relationship but I won't back down from this ma'am." I felt my eyes were black now, but I had control of my wolf.
