When I get home I find my mom waiting for me on the couch. As I walk through the doors she stands and says "Where were you?" in a serious, mom-like, worried tone.

Crap, I forgot to call her. I could say I went to the mall. Not with Danny. Macy just got her license! Thank God.

"I went to the mall with Macy." I say, praying she doesn't ground me. "You didn't think to call me first?" She asks. Well my phone could have died at work, but then she would ask why I didn't use Macy's or work's. I could forget but that's not vary believable. Or both. Let's try. "My phone died and I didn't think to use Macy's." I plead "Well you should have called." She says. "I'm sorry." I say in a sulking, sad tone. Mom sighs and says "It's ok I just didn't know where you were and I worry about you going out in the world." "Okay, well it won't happen again." I say and go up to my room before she could start a whole life lesson or lecture.

I look at my phone to find its 8:13. How long was I at the warehouse? We got off work at 5:00 so we were there for 2-3 hours. I text Danny and ask what I should tell my mom as a cover story for going to the warehouse. He immediately texts back "Tell her that your going to the mall with your friends and you might come home late." That is a good back up plan me and my friends love to go to the mall and me normally eat out before or after.

The next morning I tell my mom the cover story as I'm heading out the door, she just nods her head and says "Okay, have fun sweetie."

I get to work three minutes early and I find Danny in the Employee room keying in his card. When he's finished I key in my card.

"So my mother's fine with me going to the mall tonight after work." I say to strike up a conversation with Danny. I turn around to see three men in suites approaching the room. They all have the governments seal on their pockets giving them away as government workers. Before I can analyze them any further Danny sees them too and immediately closes the door and locks it.

"We have to go." He says turning to the window. "They are from the government, right." I say. "Yea, which is exactly why we need to run."

He opens the latch and after a few tries in a frustrated tone he says "little help here." I use my gift to open it. It flies open immediately in sync with the flick of my wrist. I run to the window and Danny helps me out of it. Thank God the room is on the bottom floor.

After i'm out he jumps out grabs my hand and we start sprinting to the apartments and neighborhood behind the library. For a split second I'm taken back by his touch. The feeling gets lost when we start sprinting.

After a minute or two I hear commotion behind us. When I look back I see black cars, and military trucks in the parking lot. I also see 20-30 military men. There are commanders barking orders, I assume are to arrest us. I also see men in black suites just like the ones in the library.

"Danny!" I yell.

"Just keep running" he yells back.

We make it across the huge lawn and into the neighborhood but we don't stop. We manage to make it to the main road ending the neighborhood before I have to stop because I can't catch my breath.

"Come on we have to go, you can do it." Danny says. "I ... can't" I say in between breaths. I'm breathing really hard and the inside of my chest and upper stomach feel dry.

I hear running footsteps approaching us from the other end of the neighborhood. I take a few deep breaths and muster up all the strength I can get. Just as Danny starts to pull me away to hide I start running down the busy street. Danny gets the message and is in front leading me my hand in his in no time. We get three blocks and I'm dry heaving. Needless to say I'm really out of shape.
