"thank you for the dinner."
she bowed her head in thanks.
"oh, it was my pleasure."
ms. im smiled at the girl. she was a shy one, but a cute one at that. she could she her little jaebum with her and she'd be proud if he did end up dating her. he would go on and on about this girl and how he admired her so much. she was glad her son had finally made a move.
dahyun stood up and was going to bring the dishes to the sink, but ms. im stopped her.
"just leave it, dear, the maids will get it."
she shyly nodded and placed her plate back on the table. she glanced at the time and decided it had been long enough.
"i should get going now."
"oh, yes. i'm sure your parents are worried about you. jaebum, take her home."
jaebum nodded, gesturing for dahyun to follow him. she did. he led her to the garage, where they had 8 different cars.
"choose one."
she looked up at him with wide eyes and then back at the cars.
"i want that one."
she pointed at a simple car, a black lexus. he grabbed the keys from off the wall and led her to the car. he opened the door for her and she slid right in. it was a comfortable seat. he made his way to the driver's seat and took his seat. with a click of a button, he opened the garage and headed out the house. with another click, he opened the gates to his house and exited.
"your mom is really nice."
she had broke the silence first. she just wanted to let him know. she was more of a mom to her than her mom ever was. she had already loved her. his mom had shown her kindness and love, something she hadn't known in years. she felt warm and loved at their home.
"thanks. i'm sure your's isn't to bad either."
he joked back, chuckling a little. his smile faded when she didn't reply at all. he looked over and saw a frown on her face. her hands were balled tightly into fists, so tight, her knuckles were turning white.
"no. my mom is nothing like your's. she's the complete opposite."
she had answered him with complete bitterness and anger. she completely resented her mom. after all the abuse, physical and mental, she could never forgive her. never.
her dad wasn't much of a hero either. he was never home and when he was, he would fight constantly with her mother. she knew of his affair. that's why he comes home late. not because of work like he tells her mother.
her mother always blamed her for her father not loving her. she claims every since she was born, everything when downhill. she heard it every single day. living at home was a constant reminder that she was a mistake and should've never been born.
"we're here."
his deep voice had broken her out of her thoughts. she unbuckled her seat belt and climbed out. he followed suit.
"you don't have to follow me."
"i just want to make sure you get home safely."
they approached her door together and she stopped. she heard nothing. maybe they finally took a break from fighting.
"you know if anything ever happens, i'm here for you."
