Bellamy woke up in his bed. His head pounded. He tried remembering everything that happened.
Clarke and I were captured. We escaped. I was stabbed. We almost made it to the castle but I passed out.
He recalled. Bellamy felt cold on his upper body. He was covered in blankets to his waist but some one, probably Octavia, left the windows open. He laid on his right side.
"Tell me how he got stabbed." He heard Octavia demand.
"I told you. He got in a sword fight and lost to a dagger." Clarke sighed.
"But he'll be ok... right?" Octavia begged for an answer.
"I... if he wakes up, he should be fine. He'll have a nasty scar but-"
"He'll be alive." Octavia sighed with relief. A part of Bellamy wanted to go back to sleep but he knew he needed to show a sign of life. So, he turned slowly to lay on his back. "Bellamy!" Octavia leaned foreward smiling.
"Hey O." He pulled off a grin. Clarke playfully punched Octavia's arm.
"Told you he was too stubborn to die."
"Hey." He looked at Clarke.
"How's the leg?"
"I'll live." She reassured. "And now that I know you will-" Clarke hit his arm.
"Ouch."
"What the hell!"
"What'd I do?" He looked at her like she went crazy.
"You should have ran when you could've! Instead, you get stabbed!"
"You called for me!"
"Since when do you listen to me?!" She fired. He sat there for a moment.
"Are you seriously mad I saved your life?"
"No, I'm mad because you almost made me responsible for your death! And I couldn't live with myself if I knew you died because of me!"
"Well dido because I wasn't about to let you die when I could save you!"
"You're an ass!"
"And you're ungrateful!"
"Neither of you make sense." Octavia interupted. They both look at her and go quiet.
"I'm going to let my father know you're still breathing." Clarke got up and limped out of the room.
"How do you two managed to fight about how much you care for one another?" Octavia complained.
"I don't care." Bellamy scoffed.
"Oh, that's why you almost died for her? Carried her through the woods?" She fired. He sighed and looked away. "Look, I must go but Clarke will be in to change your bandages later-"
"Wait why is it the Princess' job?"
"She used to work for the royal pharmacist. Clarke was instructed what medication to use, how much and how to apply the bandages. Who else would do it?" She asked like it was a dumb question. He shrugs.
"Funny... Doctor Princess." He smirked.
"Yeah I'm sure she'll enjoy that nickname." Octavia rolled her eyes and left. Bellamy chuckled and went back to sleep.Bellamy woke up to the feeling of something wet and cold touching around his wound. He kept his eyes closed and almost drifted off back asleep until the rag actually touched the now stitched up gash.
"Ow!" He opened his eyes and shifted uncomfortably at the touch. Clarke drew back.
"Sorry." She said immediately. He looked at her a second and sighed.
"It's ok." Bellamy laid back down. Clarke took a second but she returned to what she was doing.
"I never got to thank you... for saving my life."
"You didn't seem very grateful." He gave attitude. She was quiet for a moment.
"I just... thought you were saving the Kings daughter. Nothing more nothing less." She shrugged and he looked at her. "It's... not like you cared about me-"
"If I truly didn't care, I would have left you when you broke your leg." He rolled his eyes and sighed.
"No you wouldn't have." Clarke shook her head, never looking up at him. "You save people. It's what you do."
"I killed a man out there."
"Because you had to." She finally looked him in the eye. "I killed a man out there too!" She raised her voice slightly. "You can't tell me you didn't see that!" She shook her head. He didn't respond. Clarke breathed deeply and looked away. "I was mad... because... I didn't want you dying for someone you didn't care about-"
"Hey." He sets his hand over hers that gripped the rag. "You saved my life too." He reminds. "Thank you." At this, Clarke laughed. Not out of mockery or because she found it funny. But because... well, hysteria and not knowing how to move from there. "What you did with the long sword was pretty badass though if you want my opinion." He smiled which only made her laugh more.
"I'm sorry I was ungreatful." She said.
"Oh don't get all emotional on me now." He said and they laughed. Clarke finished with cleaning the wound and applying the medicine so she carefully placed a bandage over it. Bellamy was being drove a little crazy with how long it was taking though. "Like what you see, Princess?" He joked. She smiled.
"Almost done." She reassured. She finished and cleaned her hands before starting to limp out of the room.
"Princess?" He called and she looked back at him. "Thank you." He said. She smiled.
"Oh don't get all emotional on me now." She responded and left the room.
