Murders in the city.

Chapter Two

           

We were heading to the elevator when a  middle aged man approached us.  He had silk gray hair slicked back and was wearing a fancy Kiton suit.

„Jake, exactly the person I wanted to meet" he said.

„And for what reason would that be Christopher?"

Jake answered.

„Well, I have got a mission for you."

„I will be with you in a minute, sir"

Jake showed me to a room that looked really rich. It had a view over all of New York and the furniture was made of the finest wood and silk I had ever seen.

„Just make yourself a home, I'll be right back" He said and closed the door after him.

I started wandering around, not knowing what do. So I just sat down in the brown leather sofa and waited. There wasn't much more I could do than that. While I waited I noticed a little name tag on the wooden desk. Jake Atorni, it said. This was his office? This boy just kept surprising me. Just in that moment, he walked in.

„Sorry about that." He excused himself.

„No worries".

He sat down next to me and gave me that awkward smile. He gazed into my eyes and I blushed. I saw how he was about to lean in and kiss me.

Quickly I asked  „So what do you do here?"

I saw the surprise and the disappointment in his eyes. Guess he had never be turned down before. Well I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't.

„Well basicly, my boss gives me missions and I do them" He replied.

„I would need a longer explanation than that" I said and laughed a little.

I regretted that immediatly. As soon as I said that he was no longer smiling but instead he was dead serious.

„A longer explanation could change everything you already know"

„It can't be that bad.."

Was the only thing I could say at this moment. I barely could get the words out of my mouth. When he stared at me with that face I just frowned.

„It can. I think it's better if you just know this for now."

I just nodded. I was scared to death. Was he a terrorist? Was he going to murder me? I wanted to scream and run out immediatly but I managed to stay calm.

„Do you wanna get something to eat?" He said with a smile on his face.

I just stared at him. Three seconds ago his face looked like he could kill me with his eyes only and now he's smiling and asking me to eat. What have I gotten myself into.

We were on our way to the restaurant when he stops the car. I was scared. What if he was going to end my life here and now. I imagined the head lines in the new paper when my body would be found floating around in the ocean, when it had washed up on the shore, cold and lifeless. „18 year old girl found dead". With fear in my eyes I turned my head slowly and looked at him. He just smiled at me with the brightest smile I had ever seen.

„I'm sorry for being so dark earlier."

I was not quite on the same page as he was at that moment. He saw that I didn't understand what he was talking  about and continued.

„When you asked me what I did"

„Yeah no problem" I said and smiled back, not as bright as his smile but still , a smile.

„I promise, one day you'll get to know. You'll just have to hold on tight because this might become the scariest rollercoaster of your life."

Well this certainly did not help me earase the fear. But I was just as curious as I was scared.

„So are you up for it?" He asked.

„I'm up for it".
