Chapter Two: First Period

BRRRRRRING!

"Jade?"

"Here!"

"Braedon?"

"Here, Mrs. McKinley."

"Ryan?"

A couple seconds went by. Then;

"Here."

"He's still sulking about what happened, I bet," Ray whispered to Samantha and Sarah.

Indeed he was. The dark haired boy was slouching in his seat, a small frown on his face, black eyes lowered.

"No dip, Sherlock. But where's Aria?" Sarah remarked.

"Well, considering she ran out the door and hasn't shown up since, she's probably in the bathroom somewhere freaking out." Samantha thought out loud.

"Poor Aria," Ray sympathized. "It looked like it came out of nowhere."

They were interrupted by Mrs. McKinley, their English teacher, and by extension, everyone in the classroom's English teacher too.

"Aria?"

Silence.

"Guys, is Aria here?"

More silence.

"I think she's-" Sarah started.

Then the door burst open, revealing a red-faced Aria.

Ryan's head snapped up, visibly perking up at the sight of the raven haired girl.

"S-sorry Mrs. McKinley-" She panted, intending to apologize.

The teacher waved a hand, dismissing her.

"It's fine, Aria, just don't let it happen again. Take a seat, and we'll continue with attendance."

Aria nodded. "Thank you."

Making her way to her seat, Aria kept her head down, a still rampant blush on her cheeks. As she passed Ryan's desk, he stood up, blocking her path.

"Aria, I-"

She brushed past, looking anywhere but him.

The class watched the exchange, puzzlement emitting from everyone except for Ray, Samantha, and Sarah. Ryan fell back into his seat, an even bigger frown on his face.

Aria slid into her seat, exhaling. She turned to grab her notebook, only to be met with bright green eyes.

"What the heck was that, Aria?" Alexis, Aria's seat mate and good friend, inquired, a bewildered expression on her face.

Folding her arms on the desk in front of her, Aria put her head down.

"Don't wanna talk 'bout it," She mumbled.

Alexis's eyes softened. "Okay, but give me an explanation at lunch?"

Aria nodded, turning her attention to Mrs. McKinley, who was honestly still confused by the events that had occurred but had shaken it off, starting the day's lesson.

For the rest of the period, Aria took notes, trying to forget the events of the day, finding the blush return each time her concentration strayed. Ryan snuck glances at her continuously, with no response. The class watched this unorthodox exchange, still confused about what happened between the two. Finally;

"Okay class, since we finished the lesson early, you can talk until the bell," Mrs. McKinley finished.

The class cheered, splitting off into groups to chat. Aria pulled out the book she had grabbed before and began to read. Ryan stood up, about to approach Aria again, but Ray tugged him back down, a serious expression on his face. Ryan opened his mouth to tell him to let him go, but Ray beat him to it.

"Dude, you really freaked her out."

Ryan sighed. "I know, but I couldn't help myself..."

"Help yourself to what?" The two new voices made the two boys jump.

They turned to see Jade, another good friend of Aria's, and Alexis, both with accusatory glares and crossed arms.

Both boys shrunk away. S-scary...

"I-I..." Ryan started.

"You?" Jade mocked.

"What we want to know, Ryan, is why our dear friend seems to want to die rather than talk to you," Alex remarked sarcastically.

Ray gulped, grateful that this wasn't his problem, but also scared for Ryan.

"What the hell did you do to Aria?" Both girls growled.

Ryan sighed.

"I... kissed her." He admitted.

"YOU WHAT?!?!?"

BRRRRRRING!

With the bell, the class hurried to their desks, grabbed their things, and dashed out the door and to their respective second periods. Ray scrambled out, still wary of the two girls.

Ryan smiled sadly. "Yeah, now if you'll excuse me, I have to go fix things."

He left the two girls gaping and turned to find Aria frantically collecting her things, rushing to get out as soon as possible.

"Aria..?" Ryan questioned softly.

The black-haired girl snapped her head up at the sound of her name, freezing at the sight of Ryan. For a few seconds, their eyes met.

Aria was the first to look away, stuffing the rest of her stuff in her arms and sprinting out of the room, too fast for Ryan to react in time.

He ran after her, but by the time he reached the door, Aria's black locks were lost to the crowd.

Hahahaha, I'm so sorry about that.

Not.

Really though, what did you think about this evident angst? Don't worry, Ryan will be fine. Probably. Maybe.

Anyway, don't forget to Share, Comment, and Vote! I'd really appreciate it. :)

EDIT: Once again, minor changes to improve flow.
