"Millard, I'm very disappointed in you," Miss Peregrine says sternly. "What if something happened?"
Millard placed his fork down on the table as though it weighed more than Emma's shoes.
"I'm sorry, okay? I was just... Mad. But when y/n and I talked I was able to cool off. Nothing bad happened, okay, so could we just drop it?" Millard had raised his voice at this point, and everyone at the table was watching this bit if drama; either in shock (pretty much everyone), in worry (in my case), or in a strange sense of delight (in Enoch's case, as usual).
The rest of our dinner is eaten in silence. Pure. Golden. Silence. It's oddly satisfying, but quite strange nonetheless. I mean, I could talk to anybody I'd like to without making a single sound, but I decide I probably shouldn't -- that is, until I notice Horace. He has this sort of, I dunno, aura of awkwardness to him.
What's got you all weirded out? I ask him. He looks at me.
I-it's nothing..
Horace, it's obviously something.
I don't want to tell you.
Why not?
Umm..
Horace?
I guess you'll find out tomorrow.
What do you mean by that?
...
Was I in one of your visions?
Perhaps..
Oh god, it was a nightmare, wasn't it?
No, it wasn't.
Then what was it?
You're going to find out, okay?
I telepathically sigh. Fine.
I leave him alone for the rest of the night. I didn't want to get him mad. We ended up not getting to watch Horace's vision that night because he had "special permission" from Miss Peregrine, and I'm left to wonder exactly what he would want to hide from the children-- from me.
