I stepped out my front door into the cool breeze of Fall. It was my first day at a new school and I was a mess I had just moved to Kansas yesterday, and almost nothing was unpacked. I searched through boxes from around the house. Finally there was a box with some clothes; I pulled out a blue dress and leggings. Then I slipped on the ankle boots and tree necklace that I wore yesterday, and that was good enough for me I suppose. The bus came around the corner down the street and to my stop. When I got on there were people everywhere. My heart sudenly dropped to my stomach. There was only one seat open, and it was next to a guy. Oh no this can't be happening all people are scary especially new people and even more especially new guys. Don't even bother figuring out this irrational fear of mine. I made my way to the seat and sat down. "Hi are you new?" he asked. I looked at him nodding holding my necklace for dear life. "That's cool my name is Nicholas but friends call me Nick." I nodded making a mental note if his name since we all know I'm too awkward to ask if I were to forget. "What's your name?" Oh shoot I though as I snapped back into the reality that I might have to actually talk to this guy.
"Autumn," I whispered. He nodded and smilled as our bus got to school.
"Nice to meet you Autumn," Nick called and waved goodbye. I nooded in agreement, but I'm not sure he saw me. I had tour the school on Sunday; it was hardly a middle school it's closer to high school. I started headed to my locker through the croweds of people. I got all my stuff for first hour Social Studies and went to class. Wait where is room 34 again. Fudge! I'm lost. I started frantically looking around and finally found it just as the bell rang. Everyone looked up at me. Shoot I though as I went to my seat. I sat down and missed the first five minute of the teacher talking becasue I was in panic. Someone tapped my shoulder and I jumped a little.
"Oh sorry did I scare you?" I shrugged as the person continues "My name is Lizzie; who are you?" Lizzie asked. I paused for a moment like the awkward little potatoe I am.
"Autumn" I finally said. She did a thumbs up as the teacher continued to talk.
The teacher started to talk while passing out papers "this will be a group project work with two to three people." Fudge a group project on the first day and we have to choose our own group.
"Hey let's work together on this okay?" asked Lizzie. I nodded as the bell rang. "Okay catch you later." Lizzie said walking out the door. I miss my old school. People knew I was scared of them, and so they didn't try to talk to me.
