I was walking around the grounds of the castle gardens, "mourning" the death of my husband. At least that's what I told the servants.
Recently I had felt a disturbance in the city. As if some unknown force had entered the atmosphere that surrounds us. As if I don't know something. That for me is highly unusual because I always know what's happening.
I decide to abandon my thoughts at the garden and go see for myself what the disturbance was.
I called my guards to get the carriage ready, time for a an adventure...
...
The carriage that I rode in had been ensured that no attackers would be able to attack me. It was made out titanium and other metals for the round shape in which to ride in. The wheels had thorns wrapped around the fenders like rose vines to make sure if anyone were to try they would get punctured in the leg. And yet the metal gleam of the carriage itself still had a glamourous sophisticated look to it, with gold and red accents. The carriage itself was to heavy for any normal horse to carry so special robotic horses were made to carry the large heavy contraption. The horses had red eyes that glowed when they were activated. The gleaming metal robotic horses pranced like horses but there hooves would thud loudly every time they went.
I know it probably looked intimidating but, that's what a woman with no heart would be going for, right?
I watched out of my one sided window at the people passing by. They seemed (for the first time in a long time) happy to see me.
Their eyes were large and cheerful, as if they had accomplished something. If they think they're the reason I gave mercy upon that stupid maid, well they're wrong.
People can be so selfish.
...
We were on the outskirts of the town now, the large towering flowers frowning at me over head. They probably had some rude things to say about me but I wasn't able to hear through the layer of titanium.
We passed Peter's old abandoned pumpkin patch. Looking as lonely and dark as ever. I've heard many times the tales, the small children would tell, about the old patch. They said that Peter still haunts the patch, looking to get revenge on me for killing his beastly wife.
Quite adorable really.
We finally got to the portal that led out of hearts, and into the many other realms beyond.
It looked normal as ever, the rusty blue door stood sad into the wall; it's mouth turned into the large frown, its nose drooping, and the bags under its eyes more prominent with each passing day.
I got out of the carriage, and walked to the door.
"Why hello there, pretty little Doloores, how is your day" I say with a mocking tone.
"Quite fine, thanks for asking." The old door responded in a tired deep voice.
"I hope you do not mind if I ask you a question?"
"But of course, my dear Queen."
"Has there been any sightings of anyone new coming through you?"
"Why, my dear Queen, what a peculiar question."
"I've been known to be a peculiar person."
"Well, my little Monarch Butterfly, I will be truthful when I say that a person with little blond curls and a frilly blue dress did just come through here not too long ago. She also came with a fellow with a rather large hat."
"My, my, how aberrant but yet so unvaried sounding" I pondered the thought "I man with a very large hat you say?"
"Yes my dear, he also had a message for you."
"Oh?"
"Why yes, if I do remember correctly, he said 'The hat truly does fit the person'" the door said, its face scrunched up deep thought.
Suddenly from the corner of my eye I saw something black in the bushes, I walked over to the area and picked up...
A jesters hat.
Images of Jest scattered throughout my mind.
I then trotted off to the carriage, suddenly ready to get out of the area.
Before I got into the carriage however, Doloors yelled out to me, "Why don't we have a tea party sometime! And dear do not forget to bring the lemons!"
She cackled hard.
I immediately got into my carriage and was driven away from the loud sound of her cackling, and the salty tears flowing down my face while I hugged the soft fabric of the jester's hat.
