First Day of School

Rey
This was it. The end of summer and the start of school. Boring! Rey thought pitifully as she threw off the covers of her bed. She looked around her apartment room. At least she had a place to call home, thanks to Leia, her favorite teacher. Leia used part of her funds from being a teacher to pay for her small, one-room apartment. She put on her favorite clothes, brushed her teeth, packed her backpack full of stupid books, and slung it over shoulder. Pulling on her blue converse that went up to her shins, Rey stopped. Instead of lacing them up all the way, she laced them up half-way, and peeled them down so they flopped over.

Rey left, closing the door and locking it behind her. When she left the apartment building, Finn was waiting for her when she opened the door. "Hey, Rey." He smiled. She had just seen her yesterday, because him, Rey, and Poe had been hanging out at the park. It was their favorite place to hang out.

Half way to school Poe met up with them, Beebee trotting a long at his heels. "Hey guys. No Beebee, you can't come to school with me-trust me, you wouldn't like it." Poe stopped and kneeled down next to Beebee and pet him smoothly. Rey laughed. "Aww, let him come to school Poe, he'll be fine–" "Eh, I don't think you should. Snoke," Finn reminded. "Right. He'd kill ya, buddy. You can wait after school for me, how about that? Just stay hidden." Poe gave Beebee one last pat, and then stood up and followed Rey and Finn along the sidewalk.

Rey looked back at Beebee, who whimpered softly and then retreated back into Poe's apartment.

The three of them had no parents, but they had their own apartments they lived in. "Poe, where's your motorcycle? Why didn't you ride it to school today?" Rey looked at him. He was walking right next to her. "Well... Remember when we went to the school yesterday to buy our school books and I drove it there? Well I left it there..." "Ha!" Finn laughed. Rey elbowed him, but tried to refrain from laughing. "Thanks Rey," Poe smiled.

Rey couldn't hold it in. She burst out laughing. "There's the Rey I know." Mumbled Poe, and Finn laughed again. This time, Rey didn't elbow him. She was too busy laughing.

"hey, nice shoes, Rey. Never seen you wear those before." Finn pointed to her blue converse. "Thanks, I found them in my closet, stuffed in a corner." "'Cause you're  so messy." Finn said matter of factly. Poe laughed heartily. "It's true Rey, You are." Rey sighed. It was true.

They entered the doorway to their school, and made their way to their lockers. Funnily enough, their lockers were not to far from each other. They grabbed extra books and Rey and Poe headed for math, and Finn headed for Science class. "good luck with Kylo." Finn said to Rey and Poe. They shared math class.

"Thanks." Poe laughed. Then him and Rey walked to math class.

Kylo Ren

Kylo walked through the hallways, heading for math class. He hated all his classes. Luckily he had picked every single class but Astronomy, so he wouldn't have to see his stupid mother.

The kids cowered away from him as he walked by... All but one. It was Finn. Kylo stopped. "Hey. Finn. How's jock class?" He asked casually but sarcastic. "Shut up, Ben." Finn kept walking, his head on his backpack strap, eyes ahead. Kylo stepped in front of him. "What did you say?" He asked with menace. "None of your business." Finn replied, and pushed Kylo to the side and adjusted his backpack onto his other shoulder. "Brave words for a coward." Kylo commented. He had hit Finn's hard spot.

Finn turned. "Coward? That's the best you got?" His voice was shaking. "I bet Rey and Poe would be so disappointed in your cowardness. Rey in particular..." That was it. Finn couldn't stop himself.

He ran at Kylo and tackled him. He was punching and kicking and all the sudden-

"Finn!" It was Rey. She rushed to his side and pulled him away. Poe was behind her, pulling Kylo away. He grabbed him by the shirt and pushed him away. "Lay off," He said. Kylo snickered and walked away, blood dropped slightly from his nose.

Poe
"What were you doing, Finn???" Rey said. "Aren't you supposed to be at math class?" Finn snapped. "Don't mouth off to her. You don't need to take out your anger on her-take it out on me if you need too, just not Rey." Poe pleaded. "Poe, what are you talking about? It's fine!" Rey got defensive, and Poe put his hands up. Then he slowly dropped them. "Wait, you don't know yet, do you?" he asked. "Know what?" her voice grew soft. "Yeah, what?" Finn added.

Poe looked at them.  "Nothing, Rey. Forget about it." he turned to Finn. "Our math class got canceled. The teacher was sick and there wasn't anyone to replace him." He grabbed his backpack and started to walk away. Finn looked at Rey unsurely. "And Rey, don't worry.... You'll find out–but you'll wish you hadn't." Poe added. Rey's face turned red and she flung around to Finn with fury in her eyes. "I hate him! He never tells us anything!" She said. Finn felt sorry–for Poe and Rey.

Finn
"Rey, you've said that six times–I've counted. But it always turns out fine. Just give it time, and you won't be mad at one another." Finn had never heard such encouraging words come out of his mouth. Rey looked puzzled. "I've never heard that before." she smiled. Suddenly she turned back to Poe's direction. He was still walking.

"I'll be right back," she murmered. Then, Rey sprinted to Poe and Finn couldn't see what she was saying. Rey came back with a smile.

"Come on Finn, let's go to Astronomy." She said with a laugh. Her anger at Poe had long faded.
