The six of us, Marcus, Rachel, Hailey, Bailey, Ashton, and me, pulled up to a closed off area right off the riverbank. Hailey got out of the car Immediately and sprinted towards the river, cannon balling in. The rest of us made our way slowly trying not to twist an ankle.

"You sure you're up for this?" Ashton whispered to me.

"It can't be that bad," I say nervously.

I saw Bailey grab Ashton's arm and jump into the water, shortly followed by Marcus.

Rachel, a brown haired girl with chocolate eyes came up next to me.

"First-time river swimming?" She asked.

"Yup," I say to her. She seemed nice and didn't let my nervous system overreact.

"I was nervous the first time too," she tells me. "Here," she held out her hand, "let me help you."

I grabbed her hand and we both jumped into the flowing water of the river. Having someone next to me when I took that jump helped. I swam up towards the surface and saw Ashton waiting for me.

We swam off towards an area away from everybody else but we could still see and hear them.

"I still can't believe you actually agreed on doing this." Ashton's tells me.

I smile, "your family aren't as bad as I thought them to be."

"Trust me, they can be crazier." Ashton laughs.

"Trust me, I've seen crazy," I explain. No one tops Grace's crazy family, no one.

"Tell me about your family," Ashton told me.

I chuckled a bit, "I have this cute but secretly the devil little brother named Ethan. When I have a really sweet but over the protective older brother who is Tanner."

"What about your mom and dad, what do they do?"

"Well...my mom is a nurse at the hospital and," I paused. "I don't know what my dad does nowadays, he randomly left last year."

"I'm sorry Dani. I didn't know." Ashton looked like he regrets bringing up my family.

I looked around and submerged myself underwater, coming up and splashing Ashton right in the face.

"Hey," he laughed a bit before splashing me with a wave of water.

We continued to splash each other with water until we heard screaming coming for Hailey.

"Cops!" She yelled.

Cops? Of course, the police are here.

Ashton grabbed my hand and pulled me to the shore and into the wooded area. We watched as Marcus went and talked to the police officers who shined the flashlight into the water below. I saw Hailey, Bailey, and Rachel hiding under an old fishing dock.

I calmed my breathing but the adrenaline was still inside my veins. Ashton placed his hand firmly on my thigh as we patiently watched.

We ducked when a police officer shined his light in our direction. It felt like we were hiding from a killer. I was terrified they could hear my heart pounding almost out of my chest. I rested my body of Ashton's lap since I was sinking in the mud.

When the voices stopped and the sound of police sirens was gone, we all got out of our hiding places and walked over to the car where Marcus stood there, holding a ticket.
