i knew i had to leave soon
so
i held you one last time
pressing a faint kiss to your cold cheek
lingering
for an ephemeral moment
"i forgive you"
would be the last words i say to you
and when i turned away
i think you said you loved me
but that may have been my sweet sweet fantasy
ah
but in the end
it doesn't matter what was real and what was delusionary
for in a flash
a ghost of a smile
and a whisper
i was gone
