Approximately 15 minutes ago, Coach Finn and his family decided to ruin the sanctity of my home life by arriving to the monthly large family dinner we always had. Not that I had much sanctity to begin with. Luckily, Alex, who was suited up suavely against his will, had the same anxious expression that I knew I was clearly showing as well. He sat nervously on the edge of one of the couches, next to his father, completely zoned out. I stood by the door, hoping someone would come to break both the tension and awkwardness in the air.
"Oh, Frederick! Come over to the table! Dinner is ready!" Mom yelled, breaking a sweat as she held the 2 ton roast chicken in a casserole dish, laying it precisely on the table. 'Frederick' moved from the couch over to the table, helping Mom lay down the dishes.
"Hey Mom, is the food ready yet?!" A loud cry sounded from the staircase, as the fuzzy-slippered, oddly shaped feet of Katie ran down the stairs in a panic, fixing the studs on her ears in place whilst ensuring she didn't step on her silver waterfall dress.
"My, my. Aren't you looking awful as always, Katherine?" A deep intuitive voice slid out from behind me, taking the form of a more cheerier Alex, as he fixed his tie in the wall mirror convieniently placed next to the front door. Katie stopped on the last step of the stairs, stunned for a bit, before I gave her a brief look - reminding her about what I said in the car earlier.
"You know Tyler, you really are obvious when it comes to what you're thinking you know. I am not upset about what happened, so don't try and think bringing in Katie will do any good." He sighed, fluffling his hair a bit, before Katie leaned her arm on his shoulder.
"What if I want to be involved, Alex? I don't like seeing you moody. And you tend to get pretty moody quickly. So it is my job, as your friend, to relinquish you of your annoying grumpy face!" She turned him around, and pouted, moving his cheeks up to try a create a happy face - making him look even more scarier. "Doesn't he look happy Tyler?" They both looked at me, expecting some kind of cheerful answer.
"He doesn't look happy as much as he looks tortured." I huffed, turning to head back to the kitchen and help with the festivities.
"Like you can say much, Mr Sunglasses!"
And again, with another run down the stairs came Daniella. She was fixing her large gold plated hoops, before sitting on the last step of the stairs, smiling at the sight of a suited up Alex and Katie.
"I told you that dress would look nice on you, Katie." She jumped up, fixing her long sleeveless red dress, before continuing: "Well obviously, I mean I made it. And Alex, not looking so bad yourself today."
"Oh trust me, he could do better." Katie grinned, pinching the cheeks of a now squirming Alex, which was quite disturbing to watch actually. Especially with Daniella in sight. I would've helped Alex, but he was on his own now in their grasp. I decided to take a look back in the living room, but instead met eyes with Coach Finn and quickly ruled that out as an option. I knew he was going to bring up my failure today, since by the looks of Alex he already has done so. I turned away steadily, before another ring from the doorbell sounded.
"Oooh! I'll get that!" Daniella squealed, jumping to open the door; revealing the two clean shaven and well suited twins entering the house. Daniella's eyes lit up as she quickly hugged them both cheerfully. "Brock! Josh! What the hell took you so long?!" The slightly taller and blonde haired one walked in front, rubbing his neck slightly.
"Well, traffic is a-" Just before he could finish his sentence, a large bellow sounded down the hallway.
"Josh, no profanities are to be said or thought of this household! We have guests!" Mom yelled, startling us all a little at her too good of an intuition that she has. Instead of finishing his sentence normally, he chuckled as Brock barged his way in front. He held his hands up dramatically, taking in the aroma of Mom's home cooking, and grinned largely.
