To be honest, I never really liked being alone. And I know that sounds childish coming from a guy ready for college, but it was more due to the fact that I was just not used to it. It was evident that my family was huge, with at least a sibling or parent in the house, and even if I weren't with my usual group of friends I would end up always hanging out or talking to someone in the very least.
So when I came back home after school to find no one except Daniella's cat, Mewtwo - I started to question what kind of evil surprise was waiting for me behind these walls. After dodging Mewtwo's glare as I went up the stairs, I decided it would be best to listen slowly against my door before going to my room - because last time I went to my room when the house was empty, I found Katie trying to find my sweet stash when she was supposed to be on a diet. It was amusing yet disturbing watching her for 10 minutes struggling to fit under my bed and being disgusted and stuck at the same time. Ah, good times.
As I flung the door open, however, a completely different figure span itself around in my desk chair.
"Hello, Foxfoot." Abby gleamed, as she swivelled around in my chair, stroking the air around Daniella's other cat - Hershel. Too bad her allergies couldn't keep up with her act.
"What the hell is going on?" I asked a now slightly red and sneezing Abby, as she let Hershel free from her weak grasp and went towards the window for some air. She then wiggled her index finger up before answering:
"I heard you and your dad had a fun conversation after dinner last night." She sat back on my desk chair, signalling to me that she wasn't going to leave or tell me anything until I spill the talk from last night. I dropped my bag on the floor, and laid on my bed, looking up as I answered:
"If you define a fun conversation as arguing with your parents about past and present and then regretting it, then yeah. I had a fun conversation." I commented sarcastically, receiving a look of sympathy in return.
"Aww, you're so cute sometimes it Ty-"
"TYLER!"
Abby was quickly interrupted from complimenting me by Katie - as she flung the door open and quickly pinched my arm with poor effort.
"Where is everyone?! What the hell is going on?! And Tyler, you didn't show up to the welcoming committee meeting! You traitor!" She squealed, eyeing me with anger before Abby got up from the chair and grabbed Katie's scrawny shoulders.
"Katie, sit and calm yourself down. No one is home, because they have all gone out shopping, putting me in charge." Abby fell back into the chair before continuing. "As for Tyler, I don't know. And I don't think I ever will, to be honest."
I, on the other hand, ignored Abby's comments in the best way I could, wheeling her out of the room towards both Mewtwo and Hershel. I locked the door as I shouted 'Good Luck!' before facing Katie - who was now glaring at me whilst sitting on the edge of my bed.
"What did you-"
"Why didn't you come to the meeting?" I sighed in annoyance, politely ignoring the fact that she cut me off, before continuing to ask my question.
"What did you expect-"
"Why didn't you come to the meeting?" She repeated monotonously, as she grumpily crossed her arms and made direct eye contact with me. This, and many other things about my darling twin sister, was the one of plenty of reasons why I wanted to strangle her. Gently, of course.
"Is the meeting all you care about?!" I shouted, disgruntled at the fact that she could piss me off so quickly for no reason.
"In this moment in time, yes. I have to keep my reputation up as a girl who gets things done - especially on the welcoming committee. And my brother, who promised to show up to help out, not showing up at all...is not getting things done." Katie exhaled sharply as a break from her little rant, before I sat back on my bed and looked at her, my hands up in defeat from the stress ball that was currently about to explode in front of me.
