I wake up late the next morning. I have a quick shower and head to the apartment. I park and apply a little makeup.

I walk into the apartment and Daniel smiles at me and brings a mug of coffee to his lips.

"What's going on Daniel?" I ask tiredly.

"Sit down." He says with a hint of nervousness. I sit on the opposite side of the sofa to Daniel and cross my legs.

Daniel puts his mug down and sighs.

"I don't really know how to say this." He says.

"Is it that bad?" I ask, he looks me in the eyes and I see it, his eyes are filled with a mix of sadness and sheer terror. "Daniel." I whisper in a shocked tone, I've never seen him like this. "It's ok, I promise." I tell him as I climb over and hug him.

"I'm just scared about losing you." He whispers.

"Don't worry about that now, you know I'll try to understand." I say. He nods and takes a deep breath.

"As you know, your uncle was in prison for quite a while, I'll let him tell you what for but they kept him in for longer because he is a known gang leader." Daniel says.

"What? Are you serious?" I ask seriously.

"Yeah, how else do you explain the wealth straight after prison, or the police ignoring your speeding last night." He says. It makes sense.

"Ok, I believe you, go on." I say.

"Well, Xerxes told me to spy on your uncle, their rivals you see, I need to inform him to protect him." He says.

I bite my lip.

"What if Xerxes hurts my uncle? Albeit I still have to make my own decisions about him, but what if I want him in my life?"

"If it comes to that I will do my best to stop it, I don't want anything bad to happen. I promise." He says.

"I believe you." I say, after a moment of us moving closer together we kiss. I taste the coffee on his lips and we stay like that for a while.

We sit there for a while, with my legs over his and my hand playing with the back of his hair.

"I love you." He says.

"I love you too." I say. He looks at me with a slight sad look in his eyes.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"You shouldn't." He says.

"What? Love you?" I ask.

"Yeah, you shouldn't love me." He says.

"Why not? I can love whoever I want." I say.

"I'll hurt you, I can feel it." He says.

"You could never hurt me." I say.

"You sure about that?" He asks and looks me dead in the eyes.

"Well-"

"Exactly, you can't." He says.

"I know you could never hurt me willingly, and that means something." I say and kiss his head.

"Well, I'm sorry in advance." He mumbles.

"Apology accepted, now kiss me." I say. He leans in slowly.

"How sweet." I hear from behind me.

"What are you doing here Xerxes?" Daniel asks. I turn around and he is leaning on the wall.

"I was just wandering how my informant was doing, if he is still alive but obviously he is, and working well." He says, the tone of his voice makes me feel uneasy.
