Brave New World

The skies were clear. There was no sea in front of them.

The Divine Protector wasn't moving, but it was steady. They'd reached the land, and while it didn't look like much, it was better than the sea. For most of them.

Many of them left Thd deck, most of the generals and the soldiers, walked out with cloaks on their backs and fur coats underneath it.

The first man to step in Atmora after two Eras was no important man. Before joining the crew he had been a guard, like his father before him and his before, with no ambition higher than to get Thd last sweetroll on the lunch - break.

Said man jumped down, sliding eith a ripe down to the ice beneath them with no heroic pose

Few cm stopped,  stomping on Thd ground a few times, then said "it's safe!"

Thirty men and women jumped down after him, the last of them Yrsarald the Thrice-pierced.

"Six of you follow me, we're going scouting!" And with that a group of six left towards north.

The rest began setting up camp.

*************

As Thd smaller group began slitting the nearby land, making a map as they went along, the bulk of the crew stayed best the coast, slowly carrying the supplies they'd brought from windhelm and looted from the ships attacking them.

"We'll have to camp here" Jorleif said to ulfric, 'Yrsarald and his Party of scouts might takr longer than just a day. We can't wait fot thrn to find somewhere good enough to build a Base"

Ulfric blinked, "of course, that's a splendid idea. I'm afraid you'll have to see through it, though. I have to recruit Wuunfarth for checking up on the Dragonborn's unique situation."

He said and left to find the old mage, Jorleif grumbled "of course. I'll see through it, just like I always do."

***************

"So, wuunfarth" Asked Ulfric, "any theories?"

"A couple, my jarl." Replied the mage, "none of them I can be sure of before speaking to the dragonborn."

Ulfric said "what? Why would you-"

"Thd dragonborn has forgotten how to speak Common. It seems that might be because he was used to speaking another language instead, ancient nordic (or Dovahzul, if you're being inquisitive) and had not spoken common fot a long time."

Ulfric said dryly "Wuunfarth, Thd dragonborn wad unconscious for only three weeks. Sync even then he wad right in his room, and ten different guards all report he didn't move an inch in dl that time. Until yesterday."

"What you're forgetting, My Jarl, is that the other realms don't obey the same laws of time that we do."

And with that cryptic comment,  he left to find the dragonborn.

******************

As most were setting up camp and two were doing a field research on Dovahzul, the scouting group wad doing its best to find a habitable place

Sofia, a member of this group, was getting bored. Well, Thd parts of her not freezing to death were, at least.

The land was boring. Just Ice, snow, and cold barren fields, just like in dawnstar.

There was no elf or animal to fight, no giant no sign of any animal wildlife.

a few trees were scattered here and there,  but she was no idiot. these few trees were not useful to build anything, much less a settlement.

No animals to hunt or herd, no crops to gather of farm. No fruits. They  were doomed.

"We're doomed" she said dryly, to nobody in particular

Her cheerful attitude wasn't contagious, thankfully, they continued their work.

Ultimately Yrsarald reached the same conclusion, "let's just look around for the nearest wildlife and return"

*************

"So, Yrsarald" said Ulfric to the scoutmaster. "What do you report?"

"There's no good place to build any stable building. We saw a handful of trees scattered around the land, and I'm sure there are plenty of Ebony mines even this far south, but nothing to build with"

Ulfric said dryly, "of course. Let me guess, there's no food either"

"I didn't say that. There's a herd of what looks like goats on a small frozen him a little up north. Not sure what they feed on exactly, but there's enough of them to start a local herd. And there are a few beasts thst look like overgrown cows, and we can fish. We won't starve, they'd for sure"

"Freeze to death instead,I gather." He replied, and they all sighed.

Until Sofia said something.

"You know. Back in cyrodiil, there used to be a common belief about the nords of skyrim." She said aftwr a few minutes of silence. "That most of the nords, and especially those who live in Thd northeastern skyrim, are a bunch of naked barbarians with  face full of war-paint thst dance to the moons, speak like apes, worship animals, burn villages and live in houses made of ice"

Everyone blinked blankly,  not getting it.

She sighed. "We can build houses out of unmelting ice. In a big mountain cave or something. It's the middle of summer and this place is colder than the Winter hold. I don't think we'll be facing anyproblem about the ice of our homes melting."

And thus Thd basic ideas of a new home were born.
