"So is this like, a date?" Natalie asks me as I fix my hair in the mirror.
"For the last time, no," I say. She's asked me this question five times already, and I've replied with the same answer.
"Then what would you call it?"
"Two friends getting something to eat?" I say. She lets out a sigh. Not what she wanted to hear I guess.
"I don't know Bailey, you two are hiding something, I can feel it," she says.
"Well, then you're feeling wrong. You're my best friend I would never hide something from you, especially when it comes to boys," I say looking at her. This seems to make her feel better.
"Okay, promise?"
"I promise." She gives me a half hearted smile then leaves the room. I hope she believes me when I say we're just friends. Yes, sometimes I wish we were more than that, but if I want to change that then I'll be the one to do so, not her. And if I do need her help then I at least know she's there at the blink of an eye, maybe sooner. But right now, I don't need anyone's help.
I finish pinning back my hair then step back and look in the mirror.
"Ew," I say under my breath. I wasn't a model, let me tell you now. I was average. I didn't have a thigh gap, or anything related to that at all. Sometimes I wonder how a guy like Harry would even want to be seen with somebody like me. He was tall, charming, and overall just really attractive. I was the clear opposite of what people would imagine any of his friends to look like, let alone a girl friend.
I did my hair so it was just wavy down my back, and I was wearing just shorts and a cute shirt. I didn't want to look too good, though I probably couldn't even if I wanted to.
My thoughts were interrupted when Natalie yelled from downstairs.
"He's here!" she said.
"Ok! Let him in, I'll be down in a second," I say as I quickly walk across my room trying to find my shoes. Once I do, I grab my purse and phone and head out the door. Out in the hall I can hear Harry and Natalie talking downstairs. I go down the steps and see the two standing there making small talk. Harry turns around and smiles.
"Hi," he says.
"Hey."
"You ready to go?" He asks me. I nod my head and we both walk towards the door.
"Have fun!" Nat says in a sing song voice. Harry opens the door for me and I say a quiet 'thank you' as he allows me to walk first.
"Where are we going?" I ask him as I get in his car.
"Some seafood place I found not too far from here," he replies.
"I love seafood, good choice styles," I say.
"Thank you," He says laughing. He starts up the engine and we pull out of my small driveway and onto the road.
We talked a little bit, not much. Harry was pretty quiet most of the drive, laughing every now and then to something I said or making small comments.
" You know, I still haven't forgiven you from earlier," I say pretending to be angry.
"What did I do?" He says looking worried. A smile begins to creep onto my face when I see him reacting the way I wanted him to.
"Oh you know... Just you throwing me into freezing cold water," I say.
"Okay, that was really funny, you have to admit."
"No, it wasn't!" I say back smiling.
"It was, and it was not freezing cold," he remarks.
"Oh, but it was,"
