Brendon's P.O.V ;;
It was another normal afternoon, the sun was still up in the sky, but it wasn't quite obvious because of the trees blocking the way for the sunshine to shed through. It wasn't too dark either, there was enough lighting to be able to find your way around, and hopefully not get lost. The forest was quiet, way too quiet.
I'm one of those hunters. More like the Lone Wolf kind of hunter, but we don't have to talk about that. I was making my way to where i was supposed to set up my next trap, holding a bunch of big branches and leaves. I had dug a hole deep enough to make sure that none of the creatures I would get would escape. Right now, the only thing I have to do is cover it and go back to putting in more traps.
Do i kill? Heh, funny question.
Of course not.
I believe that saving and making peace with creatures, is better than shedding blood. Let's say, for example, you captured and killed a Werewolf. Good work! But expect their entire family coming after you to tear your entrails. Many of the mythical creatures such as; Werewolves, Vampires, and Demons, live in large groups. They are always together, except for when they're hunting for food. Each one goes in ceperate directions, which is probably the best time for a hunter to make a move. Rule #01: "The best time to kill, is dinner time." But let's face it, you can't just trust any creature, and they will probably not trust you as well.
Then why am i setting up traps?
Honestly, i like to study different mythical creatures. I'm more of a scientist, than a hunter. I love to explore and discover new things, the adventure had always run through my veins since I was old enough to leave the village by myself. After i capture the creatures, i try knocking them out without hurting them too much, then i take my time on discovering their powers and abilities.
Does that mean i do not kill at all?
In fact, i do kill. Only when i have to. If i feel like i'm in great danger and can't save myself from a certain creature using common sense (actually talking to the creature), then i'll have to use my weapons. Yeah, i do carry a bunch of those. You never know what exists. So you have to carry a lot of things for each creature. Because you do not know what you might encounter. Vampires and Demons for example, their weakness is holy water, wooden stakes, and other sacret material. I have heard that Werewolves can be returned human if they are shot down with a silver bullet to the heart. But I never tried, and then again, I do not use firearms.
It's a huge forest, and anything, literally anything can hurt you in this world. Personally, I prefer using jet knives and sharp objects. Guns are a little too noisy. And if you were not so good at aiming, then I suggest never to use a bow and arrows. But if you're to desperate, using an axe will give you time to run. Rule #02: "It never hurts to be extra careful."
I saw many creatures before, I saw Mermaids, Demons, Ghosts- Yes, real Spirits floating around. And gosh, they're really frightening. After a long year of research, yes, a year. I realized that most creatures can turn into human forms to make you think they are one of you. That's why you should follow Rule #03: "Never, ever, no matter what happens, trust anyone you just met."
After being satisfied with how my trap looked, I picked up my gear and started looking around for the right places to put a little more of those. After walking a few feet in a straight path, I saw a nice tree with strong branches and made my way to it, it looked perfect. I dropped my gear, and started getting a rope.
But then, I felt something wrap around my leg and pull me up. I did not even have time to react when I felt a sharp pain against the back of my head, my eyelids got heavy and my vision blurry. Eventually, i passed out, still hanging from the tree.

I know this was a little, but it's all i could think of for this chapter. This actually started out as a roleplaying AU, but i decided to make a story out of it. Credit goes to those who thought of the plot !
PSA: There will be many more characters in this story in the up-coming chapters.
I hope you have a nice day/afternoon/night !
