Ash followed me down the stairs with the last of my boxes.
"Are you sure you still want to go?"
"Yes Ash." I rolled my eyes. He had been asking me that all morning.
"Just checking." I turned around to see him give a goofy grin. I laughed and shook my head.
After talking it out we spent the rest of the week packing up my stuff and hanging out. Luckily my parents were away at some meeting in another pack, so Ashton was able to come over to help. We watched one of our favorite movies each night before we fell asleep on the couch. All in all, it wasn't a bad last week.
We stacked our boxes in the back of the SUV and closed it up. Ash climbed into the driver's seat while I sat in the passenger seat and we started out. I never looked back.
The twenty minute drive went by fast. Ash and I spent the time talking about when we can hang out and when we can Skype. I didn't know what my homework schedule would be like at this new school, so I tried to make as few promises as possible.
"Okay, my dorm building is just up here." I pointed while consulting the map I had printed off before we left. We pulled into a parking spot near the building's entrance, and started to get out. Each grabbing a box, we went in search of my room. As I reached the door two girls were walking out. The sweet looking red head held the door open for us while the more hardcore inky black haired one waited inside.
"Thanks." I called out as we walked past them.
"No problem!" The redhead replied cheerily.
Ash and I made quick work of bringing the boxes upstairs. He helped me get my bedding set up and pulled out my bean bag.
"I can do the rest later, I guess." I stood with my hand on my hips looking at the boxes stacked on my desk and dresser.
"What do you want to do instead?" He asked, probably trying to avoid leaving me behind so soon.
"Uh, we could go find the music room, if you wanted." I suggested.
"Sure." He agreed quickly. Ash always had loved listening to me play.
We consulted my map again, then began our journey across campus. We found the rec building without a problem, took a few wrong turns inside, but soon enough we were sitting on the piano bench together.
"Ash, stop!" I laughed. "I can't play if you keep plunking on the keys like that!"
"What are going to do about it?" He gave me a daring grin.
"How about... this?" As I spoke, I tackled Ash off the back of the bench.
We wrestled on the floor for a bit, our strengths almost evenly matched. Ash eventually won out, as he always did. He pinned me on my back, my arms above my head. He grinned with victory as he looked down at me. I stuck my tongue out at him, and we both started laughing.
"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt." We both snapped our heads toward the voice, and realizing we were on the floor Ash quickly stood up. He reached out his hand and pulled me up next to him.
"Oh no, we were just leaving." I straightened my shirt, took Ash by the arm and pulled him out of the room. I kept my eyes down in embarrassment, only risking a look back when we were almost out the door. By then the guy was headed towards the drums in the back of the room.
"Well that wasn't awkward at all." Ashton drawled sarcastically.
"Shut up." I punched him gently as I laughed. "Let's go get some food."
